  • Overview

When trying to log in to Adobe Learning Manager, users may encounter the following error message:

Error: “Your current session has expired. Please log completely out of your portal and log back in and then access the learning platform.”

    Reason

When a user logs in through Single Sign-On (SSO), a session cookie is created and stored in the browser. This cookie allows the user to log in to other applications as well. Most SSO configurations are set to log out after 24 hours, requiring the user to authenticate again for a new session.

However, in certain instances, a user may be unable to access the system due to stale SSO cookies. These cookies are forwarded to Adobe Learning Manager for authentication. If a user does not close the browser for a long time or has not logged out, the session does not end, leading to stale cookies that Adobe Learning Manager rejects, resulting in an error.

    Example: Issue with Azure Login

In Adobe Learning Manager (ALM), users can log in using a 90-day-old authentication statement. Beyond this timeframe, users encounter an error indicating that the current session has expired, prompting them to re-authorize the SSO app. This security measure ensures proper authentication and prevents misuse of ALM access.

    Solutions

    1. Clean the Browsing History/Cache

Clearing the cache can often resolve issues with stale cookies. Below are browser-specific guides to clean the cache:

The links below are browser-specific guides to clean the cache:

    • Google Chrome
    • Internet Explorer
    • Microsoft Edge
    • Firefox
    • Safari

    Use incognito mode

Use incognito mode in your browser and then sign in to Adobe Captivate Prime. See instructions.

    2. Force Sign-Out or Re-Authorize Users

To address this issue, consult with your SSO admin to force sign-out users or re-authorize them. Users can visit the My Account page on My Account (microsoft.com) to sign out from all apps and re-authorize again.

    3. Adjust User Sign-In Frequency in Azure

Another solution to mitigate this issue is to adjust the User sign-in frequency in Azure. This adjustment can help resolve the problem by ensuring that authentication statements are refreshed more frequently.

    Additional Resources

For further insights on how to set up sign-in frequency, please refer to the following link: Microsoft Entra: How to Configure Conditional Access Session Lifetime.

By following these steps, you can ensure that users have a seamless login experience and avoid session expiry errors in Adobe Learning Manager. If you continue to experience issues, please reach out to your SSO admin for further assistance.
