We are using Adobe Captivate 13.1.1.200 to create SCORM packages for our LMS.

We are facing an issue where certain SCORM packages launch and play correctly, but the completion status is not being reported back to the LMS. As a result, the LMS does not mark the course as completed even after the learner has finished the training.

We have verified the following:

  • The courses are published using the same SCORM/export settings as other courses that work correctly.
  • The SCORM packages upload and launch successfully in the LMS.
  • Learners can complete the course content without any issues.
  • The problem appears to be specifically related to completion tracking/status reporting.

We would appreciate guidance on the following:

  1. Are there any recommended SCORM publish/export settings in Adobe Captivate 13.1.1.200 for reliable LMS completion tracking?
  2. Are there any known issues in Captivate 13.1.1.200 where completion status is not sent correctly to the LMS?
  3. For video-based courses, what completion criteria should be configured to ensure the LMS receives the completion status?
  4. Are there any debugging methods or logs available in Captivate to verify whether the SCORM completion event is being triggered and sent successfully?

Any recommendations or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

I am publishing my project locally to add to our company training application. It is not an LMS but does allow for HTML files to be played. The problem is that there are features to my project that are not playing/appearing. For example, there are some pictures that leave a blank space instead of projection. Also- the knowledge check slides only show the answer and submit buttons- the question, background and answers do not appear on the projected screen. I deleted it, re-published and plugged back into our application and it still does not work properly. When I preview the project in Captivate, everything is fine. What do I need to do or what am I doing wrong?

Publishing to AICC does not produce a link- where do we get the link?

Thank you for your question, KristinaHillMSN

When you publish a course using the AICC standard in Adobe Captivate, you won’t receive a direct URL or link from Captivate itself. This is expected behavior because AICC content is designed to be uploaded and launched through a Learning Management System (LMS) that supports the AICC protocol.

Thank you for your question, Prof_Habib

In Adobe Captivate, publishing to an LMS is a common output option, but it is not the only one. You can publish your projects in various formats depending on your needs:

  1. Publish to LMS: You can publish SCORM, AICC, or xAPI compliant packages to any LMS, including Adobe Learning Manager, by configuring reporting and manifest files. This is ideal for tracking learner progress and quiz results.
  2. Publish Locally: You can publish your project as standalone HTML5 content on a web server or distributed offline.
  3. Publish as ZIP: Package multiple SCOs into a ZIP file for LMS upload.
  4. Publish to Adobe Learning Manager: Direct publishing to Adobe’s LMS with options to set module details and completion criteria.

Additionally, you can preview your SCORM-enabled projects using SCORM Cloud to test LMS compatibility before publishing. This flexibility allows you to choose the best output format for your distribution and tracking requirements.
