Crunch Numbers (responsive project Fluid Boxes)

The new version of Captivate can only create responsive projects. Personally I don’t believe that such a project is not appropriate for any content. I also know that responsive projects have more limitations than non-responsive projects, both technical and design-wise. To be able to give the new version a thorough test, I choose a topic which can be used on mobile device and developed a responsive project in version 11.8 with Fluid Boxes workflow. You can test this project here. […]

Dynamic Next Button

Explains how to use a unique Next button, which allows not only to navigate to the next slide but to any indicated slide (like Jump to…). Two possible workflows, valid both for non-responsive and Fluid Boxes Projects. This is for Classic Captivate only.

Formula Knowledge Check (tracking states)

Using the shared action for tracking states, the check action for the Submit button is explained step-by-step in this post. Two situations: formula with 3 and formula with 4 terms.

Quiz messages: Captions instead of Smart Shapes?

Offers a workaround to replacing message shapes on quiz slides by captions. Although there is a weird way to do this replacement, it will never appear on the master slides and is for that reason almost useless.ntro

State number Tracking (shared action)

Setup for a shared action to track state numbers in multistate objects, and store them in associated user variables for later use. The number of states can be changed because it is also in a variable. First post in a sequence about several use cases which were shown in a sample project.

Tracking States

Use cases, part of a course about tracking the state number of interactive and non-interactive objects, and using that number in Submit and Check actions.

Simulation Assessment: Tweak the Score

Using a software simulation in assessment mode can lead to a score. However how do you manipulate the situation where two click boxes can be used on one slide to achieve the same result? You want to show a correct percentage, right?

Software Assesment: Two failure messages (step-by-step)

Step-by-step workflow to have two different failure messages for the click boxes in a scored simulation assessment. A shape button behind the click box, a multistate shape timed for the rest of the project, an advanced action and two simple shared actions will do the trick.

Software Assessment with Two Failure Messages

Project shows two different failure messages for the click boxes in a Software Simulation, Assessment mode. Click boxes have two attempts.

Types in Drag&Drop interaction (Captivate course)

Watch how to create and use Types for Drag sources and Drop targets, and how to deploy them. Play two games, where Types play an important role, in combination with InBuilt states for the objects. Only the feature set of D&D is used, no advanced nor shared actions or variables.
