Captivate v. Articulate

I’ve just begun using Captivate and Articulate.  I am a Master’s Candidate in Instructional Technology and Design.  Thus far, I am enjoying using Captivate more than Articulate.  Perfect timing at work…two projects came up that needed an Instructional Designer.  Perfect!  Thus my first foray into integrating Captivate with Canvas.   I’ll keep you posted on the comparison of products.

In terms of video based elearning course creation, Captivate allows embedding of videos from Youtube, Vimeo and add video files from the system, add bookmarks, knowledge check, info etc.. which helps the user to have a quick self-review on their leaning content and thereby assess themselves. In Storyline customizing and making interactive videos requires lots of manual work in doing that.

Nancy-

Thank yo so much for posting this! I’ve been working with Articulate for a year now, building out eLearning courses for our annual orientation, and just now switching over to Captivate. I’ve also been toying with heading for my Mater’s in Instructional Technology, so it’s so nice to see I’m not alone!!!

Keep the posts coming!

Hi Nancy,

I am looking forward to hear your report on this. I have used Articulate / Storyline mostly…the company where I am only has Captivate. Let me know.

Thanks!

So, I’ve checked out Joe Ganci’s comparison of Captivate and Storyline. It’s fantastic. I encourage everyone to check it out, especially new users.
He’s informative and NOT annoying to listen to (although this is subjective).

Nancy, if you’re interested, Joe Ganci (eLearning Joe) has a couple of really great videos talking about what he likes about both products over on his YouTube channel.
