I need to utilize an existing PPTx slide template that is the company standard when creating a captivate presentation.  I can’t seem to upload a pptx file as a master.  Is there a way to do this?

Very little, PPT import is not the best feature of Captivate. Especially if you want to create more than one course for that company it is really worthwhile to create a theme in Captivate. You can add some quiz slides to the imported PPT slides, but will have to edit their styles as well. Quiz slides are based on the quizzing master slides which are of course part of the theme.
Even when I have to create only one course for a client, I always start by creating a theme.

Captivate’s project are all based on a theme which includes a theme colors palette, object styles, master slides, skin and eventually recording defaults. You will have to recreate such a theme in Captivate. One of the reasons is the weird way that PPT has to define a presentation in print units instead of in px what is the normal way for any application that is using screens, not paper. Try to take over as many assets as you can from the PPT (can be unzipped), drag them into a Captivate Library and create the theme. About the components of the theme:

If you have indeed just an image on that PPT master slide, Mayank’s solution can help. But normally a theme in PPT also has object styles etc…

Thank you. That is helpful information and I think I have exhausted my options. May just have to import the powerpoint presentation as I’ve been doing, which is not the end of the world. I need to see what other interactive ability I have other than narration with that option.

Hi, You cannot import PPTX file as a Master Page in Captivate. If you want to use only the background/Theme of your PPT in Captivate then you can save the background as an image from your PPT and then import that image in Master slide in Captivate.

Thanks. I found that option but then I just have an image. Will have to see how to format on top of the image? There are components of our company template that I cannot apply to the CPT files unless I upload a PPT presentation. Was trying to work directly in captivate for more interactive options.
