Grouping Objects in Captivate 2017

I have held the shift key down to select the objects I want grouped, then right mouse clicked and selected Group. I have everything I wanted grouped except for 3 objects. When I select these objects and right mouse click, group is not one of the options. Ctrl G does not seem to work and when I select the objects and go to Edit, Group is grayed out. What do I need to do to get these other three items grouped.

Thank  you.

Deborah

I am trying to group a text container with a shape in a video demo. There is no “create group” in any menu.

A Video demo is a totally different environment, no grouping (same in Fluid Boxes projects). But I find your example weird, why use a text caption and a shape when you can use the shape as text container? Avoid multiplying objects when it is possible with less, one of my motos.

Is grouping allowed for both text objects and image objects?

Sure! It is just in a responsive project with Fluid Boxes workflow that you cannot group objects.

That’s what I thought, but I am not able to group objects as the Ctrl+G isn’t active. When I attempt to manually do so, by selecting the option under the ‘edit’ tab, it’s grayed out so as to suggest that it’s not an option.

Thoughts?

I am experiencing the same problem in CP2017 and my project is not a responsive project.

Can you report in detail which type of objects you wanted to group?

Hi Lieve,

I’ve attached a screenshot to illustrate an example where I’ve selected two text captions then right-clicked to create a group but the group option is not displayed.

Are you perhaps working in a responsive project with Fluid Boxes? In that case grouping is excluded.
