Newbie needs help editing software simulation down to size to load to LMS.
I’m still a newbie with Captivate and I’m at a lost when it comes to editing. I had one of our content experts record a “how to” software simulation of a software program that we use for our managers… and it’s too large to email the zip file or load it to our LMS. Where should I look for help in getting this edited to load to my LMS?
I’m open to receiving any and all ideas and feedback.
Thanks folks,
Pat
The simulation probably has been made with a size (resolution) of the capture window that is too big. Many newbies capture i full screen which will lead to such problems. It is much better to reflect before recording, taking into account the usual resolution of the screens used to watch the course, but also subtracting the space needed by the LMS, eventually by the Playbar in Captivate and the TOC if you use a separate TOC.
If there is audio in the file, file size can grow very quickly, because audio clips have a big file size. Never use stereo, and look for the lowest audio compression settings that will still give acceptable audio.
As for editing: you can try to decrease the resolution with Modify, Rescale but be carefu, rescaling bitmap images always leads to some quality loss. Audio clips (and video?) can easily be replaced, look for the audio clip in the Library and edit from there.
