Problems when publishing a project in HTML5

Hello, we are having problems lately when publishing a project in HTML5. We click on “Publish to computer”, click on “HTML5”, fill everything, click on “Publish” but it doesn´t create the zipped file. It creates a normal file (which we cannot use). If we have a small project everything goes fine, but with big projects we get stuck. My computer has 2.50GHZ processor and a 237 GB hard disk (only 7.45 available). Could it be my computer, that´s also happening with one of my colleages. Thank you

Thank you for your responses, we always click on the zip file option. And the thing is that for small projects (3 or 4 slides) everything works great and it creates the zipped file, but for larger ones it gets stuck. and yes we have to use HTML because in google 69 flash is not working.

You may have the problem due to lack of space. Recommendation for any disk is to have at least 10% free. Try to free up some space.  Check also if the folders for the Cache and for Publish (Preferences) are on your system, that is very important. Not on a networked drive which could be the case if you have a roaming profile. Clear the cache regularly.

Thank you Lieve, we are kind of stuck here. One more thing I also have Camtasia installed and the RAM memory is 8 GB, windows 10, hard drive  237 GB only 6.45 available. Do you think this RAM is ok?

One of the systems I use is a Surface Pro, with 8GB or RAM and no graphics card. It is OK for not too large projects, but I take care of leaving enough free space on the disk. I really think this could be at the origin of your problems.

Just in case it might help, here is an image of where the zip option checkbox is located. It is not checked by default, so you have to actively click it to get the zip file.

Another possibility – My husband is having issues with zip files in his corporately managed computer right now. IT has been trying to fix it but it just will not function. He doesn’t use Captivate, but it is impacting come of his software he needs to do his job. Possibly it is a bug that is impacting PCs on a wider scale? Can you zip other files?

A zipped folder (it is not a file) can be created in two ways:

You check the option ‘zip’ in the Publish dialog box, that is the way to go if you have a course that is not set up to report to a LMS
If you do use reporting, you don’t have to check the zip option because you automatically get a zipped folder which also includes all the files necessary for the SCORM or other reporting to the LMS.

Since you publish to computer, you talk about a non-responsive project. Are you use to have checked only th HTML option?
