Captivate 2019 v11.0.1.266

When using  $$cpInfoCurrentSlideLabel$$ inside a text caption – all preview options cut off the text. The slide title in Properties is  “Module # and Slide Title”.

Yes, got it – thanks. I was using the Variables option from the Project menu. You can’t change the length there!

I posted some links to blogs, but they are waiting moderation.

You are confusing two totally different things. A variable will always have as value all the characters (up till about 200). What is limited is the number of characters displayed when inserting in a text container, which has to be set in the Insert Variables dialog box which I inserted as screenshot.

The first graphic shows the text container going to the end of the screen to the right.

How do I change the default length of a system variable?

There are two possible causes:

  1. You did keep the default length of the variable when inserting it into the text container. Default is set to 50. Increase that amount, which means you have to delete, and re- insert the variable another time, you cannot change the length after it has been inserted.
  2. The text container (shape or caption is too small (width).
