Is the an alternative to the default “Google VR Services” app for viewing on an android phone?
Hello!
Phone: Samsung S7
Output: 360 image with hotspots
Made my first VR experience and we super excited scan the barcode to test it out on my headset. I put the gear to my eyes as was shocked at how blurry the output was. Everything was fuzzy. Viewable BUT not very crisp. The original image is very high resolution and looks GREAT and crisp on desktop and tablet. It’s perfect.
So, what’s happening here!!?
I tried different low to mid-range HMD and no luck. I have the Oculus GO but these projects don’t work on it. Foey!
Then I discovered it’s the VR app I was using to view NOT the device. By default Android users have to use “Google VR Services” (for Google cardboard) which gives you the double screens BUT blurs the detail of the image (yes I cleaned the lens and phone screen). For my experience it’s SUPER important that you see clear detail.
>>>> Here’s my question…
Is there another app option that will play Captivate’s HTML5 VR output for Android phones?
Note: I tried at least a dozen so far with no luck.
A user posted a workflow for the (better) Oculus Go, maybe could help you:
I am very interested in the answer to this question. Because if we could use another app with the possibility to choose different VR glasses, it will be possible to distribute to different phones and VR glasses and get a better picture.
We have iPhones but the size of screen is larger than most iPhones and the Captivate VR file fills the hole screen. which results in double vision.
Hello Lieve,
A bunch!
VR Media Player, VR Player Virtual Reality, Fulldive VR, VaR’s VR Video Player, KM Player VR, MXVR Player and on and on…all from the Google Play store.
There were 2 main issues:
1) They didn’t recognize Captivates HTML5 output as ‘VR”?
2) They didn’t have an option to copy/paste URLs, just use 360 assets from your phone gallery.
