Help recovering content from corrupt Captivate file

I had to restart my computer without being able to close Captivate properly. As expected, when I tried to open the file I was working, I got a pop saying it was basically corrupt. Wasn’t too bothered at first as I had turned the backups on however the backup file had the same issue. Still didn’t mind too much as I thought I could recover it from the cache folder but the folder was missing one week’s worth of files, including what I needed to recover.

Is there anyway I can even just view my content? I don’t mind recreating everything but I don’t have time to rewrite it from scratch, if that makes sense. I don’t have any a published versions but I did run several previews while working on it.

Any help will be appreciated as this is easily 35hrs’ work that’s gone missing.

@mrdenney92

Nice. I’m glad it worked for you. I remember being so happy when this helped me out. Losing work is the worst.

This worked for me. It was pretty easy and hopefully works for others with this problem.

Mark OP stated that the cache was cleared. In that case the article is not helping at all since it is based on the folder in the cache.

My laptop shut down unexpectedly while I was working on a Captivate 2017 file. I had been saving it all day, but after the restart, the file was corrupted. I used the article posted by Mark above and was able to fully recover all of my files!

Good news, it is a way to recover a file, but not if the cache has been cleaned.

If those three options are corrupt (backup; cache) I am very sorry but the only tip I can offer (not sure it will work) is to try to open the Library of that file using File, Import, External Library. If it works, maybe you can recover at least some assets. Have a look at:
