Lag with Objects
(6)

When i play my video demo from within Captivate there is no lag, my objects are positioned perfectly over my Video/Audio. As soon as i Publish it to computer there is a lag on the objects? Any idea why this might be (Using 2019 version)? Thanks

I have the same issue.  When I play the timeline in Captivate 2019, the objects on the timeline match the audio perfectly.  When I preview the project in HTLM5, using the preview in HTML5 function in Captivate, the timing is off.  There is definitely a lag.

However, if I view the same course from outside of our work network, on my home computer for example, the lag disappears.

I’m not sure how you are previewing your course.  But if you are like me, and are on a networked “work” device, that could be the issue.  I thought previewing it locally would be the same as off network, but apparently not.  BTW, this also happens with my Storyline projects, so it’s not just Captivate.

Hope that helps.

Play slide is NOT a preview method at all.

You don’t give much details, but if this is a non-responsive project, you need to use Preview HTML in browser (F11), only preview using a temporary HTML folder.

For a Video Demo you should never add audio later on. That is the rule for any video, it has to be IN the video. While recording you can have a draft narration that can be replaced later on by the definitive audio clip.

It’s not video.  Just static slides with narration and objects that fade in, fade out, etc in time with the narration.

I would have no idea how you would time objects to narration except on the timeline.  When it’s off in the HTML5 preview, it’s hard to know exactly how to change the placement of the object on the timeline to better sync it up with the narration, or if you should even change it at all.

In my case, I didn’t change it because the timing was correct off-network.

The original thread was talking about Video Demo and you said you had the same issue.. That make it very confusing….

Maybe you use slides that are very long. Audio clips have to be loaded On Enter for each slide. If you have very long audio clips that can lead to synch problems. For that reason always leave a small gap before the audio timeline and after the audio timelne

Just want to check if you could solve this problem? I asked some questions quite a while ago, trying to understand your issue but didn’t get any feedback.

What do you mean exactly by ‘play from within Captivate’? Is that while using the Video Demo editor? Or in Preview?

Can you check the full version number under Help, About Captivate? It should be 11.0.1.266.

How big is the video when published? I suppose you talk about static objects added in the editor on top of the video? I use Video Demo often as start for an interactive video, which means I publish it to a folder (HTML output). Are you publishing to mp4 or to HTML?
