Knowledge Check Slides Autoformatting

Whenever I create a knowledge check slide it somehow “autoformats” certain objects and I cannot change or reset them. For example, the “submit” button on the knowledge check slides (5,6,17,21) changed the text alignment to align left and I cannot get it to be centered. I also can’t adjust the font size. Another issue I’m having with these slide is although I’ve set every default preference to Arial font it still defaults to tahoma.

Any suggestions?

I’m using the Pearl theme. I haven’t deleted anything. I typed in the question text and answer text then used the slider to view for different devices and when I do that, it responds by scaling down the text and the alignment for the submit button but not for the question answers. When I slide to view for desktop the submit button still stays in small text. The answers are unresponsive overall.

In editor mode the slider will not show exactly what happens after publishing. That is the case for the smooth font size decrease. How is it looking when you use the Preview method and its slider?

Using the preview does show the adjustments for the answers. Thanks!

Honestly, no. I still haven’t figured out the submit button issue. It just seems like every time I fix one issue I run into ten more. All the instructions and tutorials I read/watch are straightforward enough but when I put them into practice it doesn’t work and I can’t find solutions. It also doesn’t help that most tutorials are not for responsive projects and those that are do not cover the more complex items I am trying to accomplish.

Personally I couldn’t reproduce your problem, and I have created responsive projects with fluid boxes as you could see from the blogs. Still suspect the theme, or part of it is corrupted. Could you try a test after taking a backup? Replace the copy of the theme you are now using, in the Public documents, by an original version which you have in the Gallery under layouts? See if the Submit button still has the alignment problems.

Object styles are part of the theme you are using for a project. Each Captivate project is linked to a theme. If you edit the theme, please save it as a custom theme to be able to reuse it for future projects.

Where I suspect total confusion is due to your sentence ‘I’ve set every default preference to Arial font’. If you use Quiz Preferences, Default Labels to set object styles, this will NOT work for most objects. Reason is that the default set up is to use Shapes, ,not Captions. And the dialog box Default Labels only allows to change styles for the Captions, not for Shapes. I mentioned this explicitly in the links shown above and in:

https://elearning.adobe.com/2019/03/captivates-quizzes-4-preferences/

There are more posts in this series, please look also at Terminology and Submit Process.

First of all: KC slides do use exactly the same quizzing master slides as do the normal quiz slides and the Pretest slides. Those master slides use the Object styles which are defined under the Object Style Manager, category Quizzing Objects. Have a look at:

Really need more details. First of all: which version you are using?  Full version number is needed, which you can find under Help, About Captivate.

You seem to confuse several things, will not ,post everything in this answer. Also will point you to some blogs I wrote which could clarify better what I mean.

Posted already several answers, but some are delayed from appearing because of moderation time (contain links).

Yes – going into the Object Manager to adjust the font was very helpful. I still can’t figure out the alignment or the font size in the “submit” button.

Attached is a screenshot of the slide that I am having issues with. When I switch views it isn’t responsive and the submit button seems to have a mind of its own.

Did you delete any embedded objects on this slide or on the quizzing master slide? It is a fluid boxes project. I explained the Fluid Boxes set up for that type of projects in a different blog post. The Submit button is a transparent button, in CP2019 I ever experienced a misalignment of the label in that button, that was the case in CP2017 first version. Sure that you are not using an upgraded theme?
