Panel Layout lost on update, where is my custom layout?
Adobe Captivate 2019 updated on 6/13/19. Problems:
It stops at around 75% for a LONG time, between 15 to 30 minutes.
It doesn’t remember my Community login, even though it is the same computer and IP address.
IT LOST MY PANEL LAYOUT!!! and reverted me back to Classic. Doesn’t even show my layout as an option anymore. WHERE IS IT???
And those were just the problems starting up.
I was logged into Captivate 2019 original, so it knew who I am and I had access to my assets at that point in the old version. It told me I had an update and to go to Help > Update. I did that. Up came a dialog to install. It started installing and then around 2% stopped and said to exit Captivate before continuing. I did that. It continued… until around the 72% mark when it stopped and waited for a long time. Then it finally continued and said it was installed successfully. The whole thing probably took around an hour, maybe more. Longer than typical updates.
To comment about installing from CC – Captivate doesn’t even show there. I purchased it separately and maybe because of that it doesn’t show in my CC panel. I am using the same email address for both. However, as I said, on the old version, it showed the eLearning assets. The new version of Assets doesn’t work at all – (I wrote about this problem with Assets not working, but I think it got denied posting because I wanted to uninstall Captivate back to the previous version.) Updating directly from Captivate itself said it worked.
About your custom workspaces. They exist only in the Expert UI? which you have to turn on again in Preferences, General settings (4th option ‘Enable….’).
Then you’ll have to restart Captivate. The Newbie UI has now disappeared, only the big button Assets is left at the top right (new), not Libraries nor Properties. You have to set up the workspaces again. I know where they are located, will post a link to an older article which explains how you can recover some customisation.
pamelap72687770 We are not carrying forward the Preferences from Captivate 11.0, hence the panel layout is missing.
Also can you please confirm, you did a Help–> Update or installed new version after uninstalling the previous version?
Regarding Community login – Do you mean auto login in the Product? Are you able to login in manually click on the Community icon?
Maybe you should WARN people about not carrying the Preferences forward so they can at least do a screen copy of the preferences???
Yes, I did Help > Update.
Regarding Community login. Normally I press the Community button above the menus in Captivate. When I did it after the upgrade to 11.5 then I had to put my credentials back in again, it didn’t remember who I was.
Also, even after properly logging into Community. When going to Assets and clicking the button to view people, I see a new thing that shows each person and tells me how many of each person is available for download… but clicking on any of the people just sits there doing nothing. Not able to download people. That’s the point where I gave up for the evening.
Not possible to do a screen capture of the Preferences, sorry, will not help.
You may be correct about the warning (although that has always been the case), should be in the release notes. Although…. to my experience CP-users rarely read those notes.
If you read that blog post for which I posted a link, you could have saved some customisation.
I hope a staff member will also pop in. Just want to ask you if you were logged in the CC app when installing? It is needed to verify the Typekit account. Did you delete the Preverences with the appropriate CleanPreverences…. file from the subfolder utils before installing?
