Hey all,

Just wondering if Adobe have or ever will offer the Adobe Captivate Specialist Certificate Program at a location outside of US and Canada?

I’m based in UK and would love to be involved with this program.

Thanks,

Sam

Hi Sam,

I’ve also been using Captivate for some time and have web development experience and I opted to take the Captivate Certificate Specialist program and I haven’t regretted it. As you say, attending the Summit was great for networking. I also found the training process for the program valuable. The videos don’t have to be passive. The course files are supplied, so I followed along. Also, this was a great way to practice all the new features in Captivate 2019, and have the confidence of knowing how they work. I think it was worthwhile, and I agree with you that it should be offered in more locations. That would at least give people the option of deciding whether or not to gain the certification.

At this moment certification is limited to the US and Canada.

Are you a newbie in UI or an experienced developer looking for a certificate?

I’ve been working with Captivate for quite a while now and previously worked in website design/development 🙂

In that case you have to reflect about what is really of interest. Do you need a certificate for some reason, than this newbie intro may be worthwhile. Do you need to know the basis of all features, without having in-depth exploring of those features you’ll need most, that training could be interesting. But if you want to update your present skills, about certain feature you feel need training, this may not be the best training. Hope you understand what I mean. As a trainer (mostly not basic training) I prefer to offer personalized training, based on existing skills and projects the trainee is working on. The certificate training starts with self-study based on lot of passive video (no interactive tutorials), combined with ‘canned’ projects to work on. Sounds like the start of a flipped class, but self-assessment is missing. The live day is not a flipped class however, only a demonstration of the majority of the workflows you have seen in the videos. May be due to the very big classes… A flipped class is supposed to focus on the problems of the trainees…. offered by the trainees and on improving their existing skills with peer training and coaching. Not the case here.

Thank you Lieve, that’s really interesting and informative. Fully understand what you are saying and agree that it doesn’t sound like the best training route for me 🙂 I think Summit however would be a great networking event and would love to attend that.

Sure, networking is great. Have been attending all summits so far, but not invited this time. Too expensive for me.
