More issues with the latest update.
Since the latest version of Captivate (11.5.0.476) I have been running into a number of issues. The latest one is that all my cut out characters that I downloaded from e-learning bros have disappeared. I can only imagine this is because of the clearprefs.bat file that is advised to be carried out before running the new version – Or am I wrong? Is there any other reason they would be gone?
Also, Now when I go to try and re-download (you can imagine just how ecstatically happy that makes me, to have to download them ALL again!), the download button seems not to work and the asset is nowhere to be found. Please, if I am missing something do let me know. Any help or insight would be most appreciated.
is anyone else’s patience being put to the test with this update?
Hi,
You are not able to see the characters you have downloaded in previous version as we have new file structure for 11_5. To access your old characters in 11_5 version,
- Go to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets\Characters_10_0\Assets\Assets copy Image and Thumbnails folder
- Paste it in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets\Characters_11_5\Assets\Assets
You will be able to access your characters under Asset panel->Downloads ->Characters.
This is what happens with new file structure:
1.When you launch captivate C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets\Content folder gets generated, which has contents related toAsset panel.
2.When you download a character from discover tab, C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets\Character_11_5 folder gets generated. In your case, I am assuming this folder is failing to get created. Can you confirm if Characters_11_5 is present post download?
Thanks,
Charu
Hi Charu,
Thank you for your response – This was exactly what I needed and totally addressed my issue. I really appreciate the help. I will post a follow-up video showing your fix to this issue.(I’ll give you the credit ).
I wonder if in Adobe’s later releases they may make it so that the migration of assets from version to the other happens automatically at the install stage. I guess this may be problematic given the administrator permission you need to access some of the folders. Something to think about for users who are less comfortable going in at the back end to make these kinds of changes.
Anyhoo, my thanks- I’m back up and running!
I have copied the Thumbprints and Images from the previous version into C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets\11_5. As previously discussed.
However, I am not able to download new characters. My experiences is the same as Fergus. I select a character for download but the character does not download and is not available in my library.
Any help would be appreciated.
