Toggle works, but glossary widget is just a blank white box!

I followed instuctions below; however, when I click the button, all I get is a blank white box where the Glossary widget should show up. Here are the instructions I followed except I could not find any place to select “always on top” (and there are no special characters):

Put it on the first slide, time it for the rest of the project and always on top.

Then create a toggle shape button to show/hide it. You’ll need a user variable v_visib with a default value of 0, and this conditional action (I would create a shared action, can be used for a lot of goals):

IF v_visib is equal to 0

Show i_Gloss     where i_gloss is the glossary interaction

    Toggle v_visib

ELSE

    Hide i_Gloss

    Toggle v_visib

I still cannot find a check box to select “always on top” so perhaps that is the problem. Also, I have to publish to Flash and HTML for even the blank white box to appear; just selecting HTML provides a clickable button, but not even the white box of the widget appears.

I still don’t see where to select “always on top” as provided in the instructions; can anyone tell me where that is?

Here is the file; perhaps you can see and tell me what I’m doing wrong?

I am just a user like you, trying to help. But I do not download files for security reasons. Can you please publish and upload to a webserver?

Unfortunately, I don’t have access to a webserver I could provide you access to. I guess I’m just out of luck unless someone else reads this thread and can then download and assist. The only other option I can think of is if you could create a two-slide sample module using your technique on the Glossary widget and upload it here (or email to me at rikbryant@yahoo.com) for me to compare the two.

BTW, I understand your security concerns; however, I doubt it is even possible to corrupt a Captivate module with malware…I’ve never heard of it even being attempted.

Thanks for your time and assistance!

Turn on reporting and you can upload to SCORM Cloud for testing, even from within Captivate.

I guess I wasn’t clear…I can upload and test it; I just can’t put it anywhere you can access and test it.

Upload to what? I tried to tell you that to watch HTML5 output, you need to upload the output to a webserver, but you told me that you have not installed a webserver. I proposed to use the free SCORM Cloud. It was not to have access to it, but to check if the glossary shows up in that case. Locally testing is not always working.

I published it to our LMS and everything BUT the glossary works. I was asking if you could please create a new Captivate .cptx file with just the Glossary widget and two slides, using your settings, and then upload that .cptx file here so I can download it and compare to what I have to see what I am doing wrong or missing.

Maybe you didn’t understand my question about testing?

Especially when using Learning interactions it is important to test after publishing and uploading to a webserver to see the full functionality. I have been using this workflow multiple times. Did you set the glossary to be timed for the rest of the project, and always on top?

Those instructions are mine,

How did you test,

I set it for the rest of the project, saved and published it, but when I actually go through the module, it toggles fine but there is only a blank, white space where the widget should be. The glossary never appears. I have not found any setting for ‘always on top’ but the box next to ‘Place Object on Top’ is checked and it is greyed out as unalterable. Feel free to email me at rikbryant@yahoo.com. Thank you!

Sorry to repeat: did you test AFTER uploading to a webserver.

Yes, I did. Everything works (including toggle) except the widget appears only as a blank/white box over the rest of the content. Also, I don’t see the ‘always on top’ selection.

Which browsers did you use for testing?
