My company’s theme does not have quiz hints setup for use. How do I add a “Hint Shape Style” box and associate it with a question?

I have been pleading since this portal started to have a Glossary available, explaining all the terms in Captivate. That would speed up answers to questions like yours. Often I can guess the correct word, but in this case I was totally stupefied because I didn’t think about the Advanced Answer messages. It could have been even multiple Failure messages. When you referred to the examples you saw, it became clear.

I have published many articles about quizzing in this portal, only about quizzes and how you can tweak them. They would already fill a small book, but no one wants specialized books.

You are NOT talking about a Hint Shape at all but about Advanced Answer feature. Should be in your book, just look for the correct terminology.

A Hint shape only exists for interactive objects, will appear when the learner hovers near the location where he has to click.

Advanced Answer can offer an action or a feedback message which is different for each given answer.

All Object styles are part of the Theme used in a project, there are no exceptions. You misunderstand. Themes often are very badly understood, and they have become much more important with the last update.

They are embedded objects, but only appear on the quiz slide when you activate that feature. Similar to mulitple Failure messages.

Let me clarify my request. First, I have been learning to use the Adobe Captivate 2019 program since the beginning of June. I have done this by use of a very good book from Packt, and attending various online sessions offered by Adobe and other learning partners. So yes, I am new to it.

I know that an “Answer Feedback Shape” is not an integral component of a Captivate 2019 theme, so I did misspeak.

I have found Captivate canned assets that contain “Answer Feedback Shapes that are tied/linked to “Answer”, Question Answer Style” frames. When I select an answer “A, B, etc.”, the corresponding “Answer Feedback Shape” is highlighted with a red box around it.

When in “Preview” or “HTML5 in Browser” mode, selecting the answer and pressing the Submit button opens the corresponding “Answer Feedback Shape”.

What I would like to know is, other than copying a question slide from an external asset and modifying it to match my chosen Theme, how do I create this question pair independently?

Can you please give some feedback? I tried to help, but have no idea if your problem has been solved.

You didn’t mention the version you are using, but you are probably very new to Captivate?

Question slides are based on the Quizzing master slides, which are part of the theme (hope you meant a theme, not a real template which is acptl file and can be very buggy). No quizzing master slide ever provided a Hint feedback message, whether caption or shape. Whatever version you use (I use Captiate since version 1).

You will find a Hint Shape style in the Object Style Manager, but only for the Standard Ojets, not for the Quizzing Objects.

Maybe you used a wrong term? In that case, please explain more in detail what you want.
