Update
This is an updated post. The original post was created more than one year ago. Meanwhile I have been asked so many questions about the Quiz, which resulted in new blog posts, that I wanted to update the table. That is only possible by re-editing and re-publishing the post. The structure of the pdf is still the same, the total number of posts has grown to 31.
Drag&Drop slides used as Quiz or Knowledge Check slides are not included. There is a separate document for them which I need to update as well.
Intro
In June 2018 I wrote this article about the main stumbling blocks for Captivate starting users. Because some of my older posts seem to have disappeared, if you cannot find it in this community, here is a link to the same article on my personal blog.
Meanwhile I have been blogging quite a lot about each of those ‘blocks’: Timeline, Quizzing, Themes. You can download this pdf- document (free) to get an overview of the articles about Quizzing. You will see three parts:
- Default setup: explains in depth the default design and setup of Captivate’s Quiz
- Tweaks: easy ways to edit the default setup in different situations
- Specials: some recent blogs illustrating more possibilities for quizzes
Originally I had planned to bundle all these texts and more workflows for custom quiz slides and reporting in an e-book. But I doubt very much that will be worthwhile, lot of work and probably no one will buy. If you are interested, please send me a note using the contact form on my website www.lilybiri.com. Maybe I’ll change my mind.
Here is the free pdf, updated on 10 December 2020.
Watch out for a similar document about Timeline, one for Drag&Drop and another one about Themes. Both last blogs seem to be lost at this moment.
Lieve, I have looked pretty hard for this – but it doesn’t seem like you can add add the “click” sound to a button on a quiz slide. The buttons on a regular slide have the “click” sound by default> Is there any way to get that for a quiz slide?
I have seen your question elsewhere, but was very busy debugging a project created by someone else yesterday.
BTW: if my memory is correct you are the first user to require such a feature (have answered Captivate quiz problems since over a decade). The buttons on a quiz/score slide are not normal buttons, they have a lot of functionality built in but also many limitations compared with normal buttons. You cannot add audio to any state and you cannot add custom states. This means that a click sound cannot be added to a button.
Bit of cheating could be to add the audio to the feedback messages, which appear normally immediately after clicking the Submit button?
Unfortunately, the link to the QuizResources.pdf file isn’t working for me.
The error message I get is:
{“error”:”bad_request”}
Were you logged in when you tried the link? You get that error when that was not the case. If you sign in you’ll get the pdf downloaded automatically.
I was able to download without a problem.
Sure, I hope that the other user realizes that he/she needs to log in the community to be able to use all features. BTW there is a similar document for Theme Resources, and will also offer one for Timeline resources, when the moderation is getting to work again in this community (probably next year).
De rien, Ludovic! Aussi longtemps que je crois en Captivate, je vais continuer….
…
Un immense grand merci à nouveau pour tout le travail que tu as fait (et fais encore), pour Captivate et la communauté de Captivaters !…
