Mouse click NOT recording in CP 2019

CP 2019 is NOT recording mouse clicks.

Here’s what I have already done:

  • Launched as “run as administrator”; selected training; CP 2019 DID NOT record mouse clicks
  • Launched as “run as administrator” and selected all 4 recording types (I also tried selecting each one individually); no mouse clicks recorded
  • Launched as “run as administrator”; selected custom; selected “add click boxes” AND “show hand cursor”; no click boxes recorded
  • Launched normally; selected custom; verified click boxes check; no mouse clicks recorded.

In other words, no matter what I select to launch CP 2019, either “run as administrator” or launch normally, I CANNOT record mouse clicks.

Is there anyone who can solve this problem?

My Captivate version is 11.5.1.499. Operating system is Windows 10 Enterprise, specifically Version 1809; OS Build 17763.678.

There are NO clicks on the time-line.

Did you read mys most recent answer? I suspect that you are confusing the setup in Preferences, with the setup when starting a recording: did you choose the correct mode then?

Just discovered something. In either administrator or regular log-in, I click Training Mode under Recording Type and change the Global Preferences to Training as well as click all the checkboxes under Click Boxes.

However, when I go back to the Global Preferences, they have returned to Mode: Demonstration at the top and all the Preferences returned to Mode: Demonstration settings. I did not record anything…I was just playing a hunch to see what the Preferences were doing. Sure enough, they are defaulting back to Mode: Demonstration when I leave the Global Preferences screen.

And yes, I did click the OK button prior to leaving.

Oh no!  Preferences just set the preferences, but you confuse them with what you have to define when starting a recording: did you activate the Training mode then? By default only Demo mode is selected.

You don’t see click box on the Timeline? Still don’t know which version you are using, nor the OS.

My Captivate version is 11.5.1.499.

I read a previous response you had written so I tried recording as “administrator” in training and assessment modes. Neither worked. I also tried recording normally and that did not work. Needless to say I have been doing a lot of recording with “no mouse clicks recorded” results!!!

I also verified the preferences were set to record mouse clicks. No mouse clicks were recorded in either mode nor as administrator.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

You may have a look at this article. I never had similar issues, but can be due to the PC setup (although I am using 3 systems):

Did you edit the Preferences for the software simulations? Maybe you should try once after resetting to Default Preferences. Some claimed this could solve similar problems.

Which mode did you test? Mouse clicks will be added to Training and Assessment simulations, not to Demo simulations.

Can you also report which exact version number you are using? Look under Help, About Captivate. Which OS?

Just to update you, I still cannot record mouse clicks in Training nor Assessment modes; either as an administrator or regular log-in. Preferences were verified and even changed to reflect a hand cursor on mouse-click. No mouse-clicks were recorded. I simplified it and tried recording my recycle bin on my desktop; no mouse-clicks….in either mode.
