Uninstall?

How do I uninstall Captivate? The Adobe website says this:

Adobe's uninstall instructions

Charmingly, however, there is no “Uninstall Adobe Captivate” option. Nor, of course, is there an “Uninstall Options” screen, or a “Remove Preferences” option. I have a Captivate folder.

I think I have to uninstall because when I try to install, the installer says I have a corrupted installation.

I’m an idiot. It’s there.

Tags are very frustrating.  The most recent version of Captivate is 11.5. For Mac users on Big Sur recently a new version was released because each new Mac version seems to succeed in crashing Captivate. Have a look at:

You should be able to uninstall it successfully by dragging the application to the trash. I am currently using captivate on my parallels VM installation… but dragging the whole folder to the trash is helpful. You can also chat with an adobe captivate support person, but I imagine the wait / support time would be pretty high. Plan for at least an hour.

Go here: https://helpx.adobe.com/support/captivate.html

Scroll to the bottom and choose the contact us option.

Thank you. I’ll try uninstalling it by dragging it, but my experience with Adobe CC is that it didn’t work well—Adobe scatters files all over, including a boot daemon that drove me a bit batty.

I would never do that. Using an uninstall application could help, but you need to have installed with the uninstall app already on your system.  Of course, I have no idea about those specific errors on a Mac.

I agree. Are you not seeing an uninstall application in your captivate applications folder?

Thank you both for your help. Michael, I appear to be a total idiot. Somehow I missed the Uninstall application, which is there in the folder, as you said. I have no idea how I missed it the first ten times I looked.

Thanks again and my apologies.

Since I am a Windows user, cannot tell you what has changed in the Uninstall workflow on Mac.

However I see a tag about the version ‘Adobe Captivate 9.0.2’! If that is correct I am pretty sure that your present Mac OS is not compatible with that old version.  For the sake of Mac users trying to help you, please tell which versio of OS you are using.

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately, the tag function doesn’t seem to work well either. I would love to give my own tag (like “Big Sur” or “Intel Mac”)  but it won’t let me. I can only choose from the tags provided, so I chose the highest number I could. It also won’t let me post without tags.

I’m using Big Sur on Mac OS (the most current version).

As it turns out, though, I think that’s part of the problem. Captivate doesn’t work on Big Sur. Why the website couldn’t say that before I burned through 6GB of downloads is another question.

How to uninstall it, though, remains unknown.
