When will animations and other pre-made motion effects be made available in HTML5? Here it is 2022, there hasn’t been a major update to Captivate since 2019 WHICH STILL CONTAINS SWF COMPONENTS!!!!!. Adobe: I know SWF was your thing back in the day but it’s dead technology. You’re the same company that makes After Effects so why can’t I get basic text animations in HTML5 format 2 years after the death of SWF!!!!

Adobe promises with vaporware 2020, I mean 2021, I mean 2022 have indeed lead some customers towards the edge of their patience. Meanwhile, Storyline and even Camtasia are taking over. I sympathize with rbeers. It feels like the person in charge of Captivate at Adobe has fallen asleep at the helm.

There are many animation options in Captivate. With a little work it can certainly replicate (almost) all HTML5 and Flash animations. 🙂

Not very polite to SCREAM when posting a discussion. May I point out some points which you may have missed?

  • Under the common name CP2019 three main dot releases exist, each with minor patches as well: version 11.0 , version 11.5 and version 11.8. Especially version 11.5 could easily have been labeled version 12 due to the many added new features.
  • Personally I have not created SWF output from Captivate since more than 6 years. The Effects are not SWF-based, look at their definitions in the XML files. Only some minor features are not supported for HTML output, but that doesn’t include the Effects at all. Do not confuse the motion effects with the ‘old’ Text animations.
  • Bit off topic, but what is the efficiency of adding (stupid) text animations to reach a learning goal? Have to confess that I never appreciated them but whenever possible I also avoid any long bulleted lists or text. For this comment you may scream at me. FYI: I have decades of pedagogical experience as professor in a university college and elsewhere.
