Captivate Question
Good morning, first time post here and apologies in advance if I don’t explain this very well.
I have just started to use branching in captivate projects. It’s fantastic and makes things more interactive for learners.
I have one issue that I need an answer for and hope that someone will be able to help.
After grouping slides together with the same numbering as the branching button, I have noticed that if my last slide in a topic is a video, when previewing a project in my browser, branching does not work.
If I add a blank slide to that group after the video slide and then regroup, branching works as it should.
One of my projects has three groups and two of these groups only needs two slides (an intro and a video slide). I have had to add a blank slide after the video slide to get branching to work.
Anyone else seen this issue? Or is it not really an issue but needs a setting to be changed to get the branching project to work correctly?
Any help would be warmly welcomed and thank you in advance.
Best regards
The easiest solution to this problem is to add a shape or image button that shows up once the video has completed on the slide in question. Set the action for that button to be Continue. This way, the slide will return to your master slide with all your lessons.
Welcome!
I really wished I could help you. But I never use the ‘built in’ branching, always design it myself since it is not that hard. Of course I have a lot of experience with variables and shared/advanced actions and completely understand you want a simple solution.
Probably you are on a bug in this situation. Did you use slide video or event video? In both cases, what is the setup of the video as shown in the Properties panel? Do you have a button on the video slide?
If you want me to give you a short summary of a custom branching setup, let me know.
