LMS vs. LXP

Hello folks! I am a LMS administrator working for a medical equipment manufacturing firm. My organization has decided to migrate to a new LMS as the current one isn’t scalable for our growing numbers. We are also exploring LXPs. Do you suggest implementing LXP along with the LMS? Any personal experiences with a LMS-LXP combo will come quite handy. I am looking at knowing any practical issues with LXPs.

eLearning champs need your suggestions!!!

I think that compliance is best achieved with LMS. But you may want to explore Adobe Learning Manager. Does both jobs well.

Well, our organization uses Docebo. It is mainly an LMS but allows some learner autonomy with personalized learning paths, gamification, and social learning features. Now anyways, the distinction between the two seems to be blurring.

That’s an interesting query. Many organizations don’t offer personalized learning paths to employees. In that case, LMS does enough.

To answer that, firstly you need to understand what your organization is looking to achieve. If it’s only about managing, tracking, and reporting the learning journey for the growing number of employees then LMS will suffice. If you want to create personalized learning paths along with social learning, then probably LXP is needed. Now many LMSs provide some degree of LXP features.

I have no personal ewperience with a combination but did you ever have a look at Adobe Learning Manager? It is for sure a great LMS, but also integrates learning experiences better than most LMSs. It is also important to know which eLearning tools you’ll be using for the LMS part.  Not all LMSs support all tools the same way and that could also lead to many frustrations.
