Agree. Some degree of offline learning activities can also be embedded like a group discussion or role-play.
I am just thinking aloud. If visuals aren’t critical to the particular learning objective, then audio recordings and clippings can also work well. Especially for adult learners.
That’s a peculiar problem in my region, especially in remote areas where my NGO is trying to reach with its eLearning initiatives for young learners. I use the below strategy to mitigate this issue to some extent-
- Design short but effective, downloadable lecture videos
- Compress the multimedia like images, and videos irrespective of their size
- Store all recorded videos in the cloud for backup
