Hello all! I need some guidance on designing an eLearning program that meets the needs of learners with limited access to technology, especially the internet which may be very patchy or slow. Please suggest strategies for designing an eLearning program considering these limitations.

Agree. Some degree of offline learning activities can also be embedded like a group discussion or role-play.

I am just thinking aloud. If visuals aren’t critical to the particular learning objective, then audio recordings and clippings can also work well. Especially for adult learners.

That’s a peculiar problem in my region, especially in remote areas where my NGO is trying to reach with its eLearning initiatives for young learners. I use the below strategy to mitigate this issue to some extent-

  • Design short but effective, downloadable lecture videos
  • Compress the multimedia like images, and videos irrespective of their size
  • Store all recorded videos in the cloud for backup
