I have created a Captivate project, but when click publish it only gives me the option to publish to my local drive. I need to share this project with an instructor and colleagues…. what am I missing?

Hi @brelandl,

Thanks for reaching out. I would fully agree with everything that Lieve Weymeis  just said. Additionally, if you are ok to do so (if there is non-confidential information) please feel free to upload it on our community. Once it is published you can share it with your instructor and colleagues. I am sure it’ll garner a lot of eyeballs leading to increased engagement. Over and above this, you will get 200 points for uploading a project on the community. Please visit this page to understand more about the points and levels.

Regards

You don’t tell which version of Captivate you are using? You find the full version number under Help, About Captivate.

You probably created an interactive project, which means that you can only publish to HTML. That output folder needs to be uploaded to a webserver or a LMS. A LMS is necessary if you activated Reporting in your project. Once the upload is finished you can share the URL to the output with your colleages/instructor.

If they also have a copy of Captivate installed (same version) you can share the raw cptx file. However to edit the file they’ll need to download it to their system.

If your project is not interactive, and you are not on the most recent version, you can also publish to video (MP4) which is passive. A video is easy to share with anyone.
