Is there a way to put a hotspot over an image or a hyper link over text within an image in the new version of Captivate or did that feature go away?
Hi keeshiap2024
To answer your first question- “Is there a way to put a hotspot over an image”, you can place a hotspot over an image. Here’s how you can do it:
- Add the Hotspot widget on an empty slide.
- Change the background image of the widget to one suitable for use.
- Place the hotspots accordingly.
- Edit the callouts
To answer your second question- “a hyper link over text within an image in the new version of Captivate”. As Lieve Weymeis had mentioned, Captivate 12 doesn’t yet support this. However, this is something we can look into. Please raise a request on https://captivate.uservoice.com/forums/939318-adobe-captivate
Thanks.
Because the new version is limited to responsive projects, and in that type of projects stacking of objects is impossible those features are indeed mostly gone.
However there may be a workaround: if fill the background of a slide with the image, you could put a block on top of it with ‘hotspots’. It is not very easy to move individual objects, which is also a step back, but with some trial and error this is possible. Did you try out the Hotspot widget already to see if it cannot do what you want.
You can have hyperlinks over a block (using the interaction) or a text. However, contrary to older versions, those hyperlinks only can act to show an URL, they will not have all the other possible actions which you may be used to in previous versions.
