Adding a Pause/Play button for slide
(3)

On the slide, I have a Captivate audio file and a SnagIt video file. Currently, I can only pause one or the other by using the skin editor for the Captivate audio file or the scrollbar play/pause button on the SnagIt video file. How do I create a pause/play button for the slide that would work for both the audio and video simultaneously?

Debbie21842691vfu5  You may utilize the slide video (Add Media Block->Slide Video) rather than event video (Add Media Block->Video) in Captivate, as it uses the project playbar that is synced with the project and its objects, and not utilize it’s own player. This would allow you to pause both the slide audio and video simultaneously.

Hmm, I answered in a similar way but are you sure that the OP is using the new version of Captivate? I avoided using exact workflow steps for that reason. You assumed the OP is on version 12.

One of the problems in the new version is that the difference between event video and slide video is not clear at all. The term ‘slide video’ appears in its slide template, but newbies will not be able to see that the template for the event video leads to a different situation.

Without knowing which version you are using, it is almost impossible to answer because the difference between the new version 12 and all previous versions. You find the full version number under Help, About Captivate.

Second question: which way did you insert the video, as event video or slide video? From your question I suspect that you use Event video, which has its individual control panel. Problem is that such a video play independently from Captivate’s slide timeline. If you want to pause/play both at the same time, you need synchronisation with that timeline which is only possible with video inserted as slide video. The normal play/pause button in the playbar may just do what you want in that case.
