

We have released Update 1 for the 2017 release of Captivate. This update addresses several important bug fixes and includes support for the latest release of macOS.
To install the update, in Captivate, click Help > Updates. Then, follow the on-screen instructions.
The new build number after the update is 10.0.1.285.
This update contains the following:
- In-app interactive guide for responsive projects. Follow the walk-through to create responsive projects using Fluid Boxes
- New video tutorials for Captivate (2017 release). Whether you are a rookie user or an experienced user of Adobe Captivate, these tutorials serve as an excellent baseline to get acquainted with Captivate (2017 release). Navigate to video tutorials to get started.
- Support for macOS 10.13 & iOS 11.2.6. This update supports the latest Mac releases and fixes a critical issue.
- Direct access to Captivate e-learning assets without having to sign in. Download assets and files straight away.
We have also fixed some bugs in this update release. Here is the list below:
- You can navigate the answer options using the Tab key. Once you reach the answer options, use the arrow keys to navigate through the answer options. Select the option using the Spacebar.
- Using the Tab key, you can reach the TOC, and navigate through the slides from the TOC panel.
- Closed caption toggling via a slide button does not work if the playbar is disabled.
- The customizations made in the Closed Captions dialog in a different breakpoint do not always get retained after saving and reopening the project.
- Closed captions flicker in an HTML5 output when changing from one closed captioning to another on the same slide.
- When generating audio using Neo Speech agents, line breaks in slide notes do not result in inserting silence between the generated audio sentences.
Objects
- If there are five or more objects on a Master Slide, or the objects are marked as Rest of Project on a slide in Filmstrip, then the objects do not appear in SWF output.
- In a click-box, if a shortcut is from a num-pad key, then the number keys above characters don’t work and vice-versa.
Miscellaneous
- In a responsive project, an answer option that would go out of the slide canvas in runtime, now wraps properly in runtime.
- In states, variables do not propagate values to state and additional state items.
- In Mac, Photoshop round-tripping does not work.
- You could not download assets from eLearning Brothers, whose names contained spaces or numbers.
- Background audio in a Captivate project does not appear when you publish the project as video.
- The spell checker (F7) may not function as expected on slide notes with formatting.
- HTML formatting tags (bold, italic) are getting displayed in Find and Replace dialog, if the searched string is part of slide notes.
Problems while updating
The following error messages may appear:
“Update Failed Updates could not be applied”
“Adobe Captivate 2017 Update 1
Update is not applicable. Error Code: U44M1P28”
The error messages appear because you may have applied an intermediate fix on Captivate build 10.0.0.192.
Follow the steps below to resolve such issues:
- Uninstall the current build from the machine.
- Download the base build from the page below, https://elearning.adobe.com/2017/03/adobe-captivate-download-locations/
- Install the new build on your machine.
- Once done, launch Captivate, and update from Help > Update.
Sorry, my earlier comment was irrelevant to this version, but I cannot seem to remove it.
You are confused by the double indication which started with CP2017:
CP2017 is really version 10, with as most recent release 10.0.1.285
CP2019 is really version 11 with as most recent release 11.0.1.266
Also don’t know whether this double indication is a plus value, but Adobe started doing this with the CC applications, now followed by CP.

No problem, but although you can edit your answers, there is no way to delete them in the portal. In the Jive forums that is possible for me, because I have moderator ‘powers’.

AutoPlay is disabled for HTML output. Please search on this forum, there ae many threads. I don’t want to insert links, because answer will need approvement in that case and that takes quite long at this moment.
I cant seem to get the update. Captivate 2017 for Windows, it says it is updated, but my version is 10.0.0.192. Is there a link that lets me install the update manually?

Hi, I have updated to the latest version but I would like to downgrade to the previous version.. Can anyone help me on this? Just not a fan of the play button prompt. If you still have the previous versions, the autoplay will still work!
Uninstall this build and install the previous build. Go to https://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/download-trial/try.html and install the base build, 192. Before proceeding, would you tell us why do you want to downgrade?
AutoPlay will only work on desktop browsers, but not all of them since Chrome did take out AutoPlay.
Thank you for your help, Saurav! Mainly because of the now-defunct autoplay feature. Our customers use mainly desktop and Chrome (even Adobe support peeps recommended using Chrome as browser) so clicking the play button to launch the module and then clicking another button to start the module wouldn’t be so nice..
I have MacOS version 10.0.0.196. It says the update is not applicable and although it downloads, it won’t install.
Stephen, please 1) uninstall build 196, 2) install build 192, and 3) apply the update.

This is just a quick thank you to the support team. They were a great help. I’m now up and running on the latest version, and finally have access to the assets!
I’ve been having problems with my copy of Captivate, even after deleting preferences, so I uninstalled my copy and downloaded the latest version. I’m surprised that the version that was downloaded 10.0.0.192. Why isn’t it the newer 10.0.1.285?
Regardless, when I chose Updates under the Help menu, it shows me the new version patch, so I’ve downloaded the patch. I closed Captivate and ran the update installer. About halfway through, it reports that Captivate is open and to close it. Captivate doesn’t show as open at all, but I ran the task manager in Windows and sure enough, there were vestiges of Captivate hanging around. I killed those and then the installer was able to proceed. I now have the update installed, thanks!
Updating Captivate, smooth as gravel.
I can’t install the new update either. I’m currently using 10.0.0.192 on Windows 7. The Application Manager tells me all applications are up-to-date.

You would have to open the older projects, and use the same workflow, before republishing. The decision of Chrome to ban AutoPlay on all websites is not due to Captivate. I’m sorry but I don’t know an easy way to do this without opening the raw cptx files.
Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I have searched threads and found nothing that addresses previously published content. I have customized the autoplay page and button (and edited Js to prevent dimming of intro screen) but this only helps with new content.

Some users report that previously published courses still work, but not sure about that. Recommending another browser is a possibility, as long as those browsers support AutoPlay. Anyhow that is already since quite a while not the case on several mobile devices.
With the new update there is a play button on a blank slide if the training module begins with audio/video. For all content published to LMS before update, the audio does not play at all in Google Chrome 66. Does this mean all content (100s of modules) will need to be republished? The play button, while annoying, is a great solution for future content but the issue is with previously published content.
Monika, that update is for CP2017, not for CP9. Do you have a subscription license or a perpetual license?
Lieve, I do have a subscription for CP2017, however it looks like I am still on CP9… I had some issues with Captivate in past and I have contacted adobe support and I must have been supplied with CP9 instead of CP17 ). How can I download the newest build ?
Since you have a subscription license, download the trial for CP2017. Log in with the Adobe ID which you used when buying the license, it will be recognized and trial version will be validated to a licensed version. With a subscription license you can keep two versions of CP, would recommend to keep the CP9 version as well and install CP2017 along that version.
The new upgrade isn’t available from Help> Updates on my Captivate ( which is version 9.0.2.443 ) . Can you help please?

In training mode the click box and highlight box on Mac OS High Sierra are always recorded at position X=0, Y=0 for Captivate 2017. This was reported in 2017 by two folks but nothing was done about it. Very discouraged.

Not able to update CP2017 version 10.0.0.192 on MAC. I tried uninstalling CP after “cleaning Preferences” and reinstalling.
Help > Updates keeps greyed out 🙁
Vico, in typical enterprise environments, the Administrator disables the option. Only the admin can deploy the update on the machines. Is this the case here? Please reply to this thread.

I called Adobe tech support yesterday. I ended up having to repair my Creative Cloud Desktop app, uninstall and reinstall Captivate. Then after that, I was able to access the update and run it. Interesting thing, was that this was the same case on two machines. But now, everything is working fine.

Saurav, found a partially fixed bug that is not mentioned in your list. Shadows on shapes with a stroke, had the stroke duplicated in the shadow since many versions. That is now fixed, at least when the Alpha of the shape is set to 100%. I posted two images to demonstrate in this thread on the Jive forums (cannot post images in a comment here):

Lee, Adobe could not resolve the issue have advised me to remove my version and full upgrade to latest. This should resolve the assets issue

I actually have another issue. I have a full subscription to the Elearning brothers master pak but when captivate goes there now, it only gives me access to the partial resources available through my captivate subscription, not the whole library. Thoughts how to get around this and get access to all my content?
