Importing PNG sequences into Projects

Just getting started here and coming from a app development background.  Looking for any tips or shortcuts as it pertains to incorporating, and maximizing png sequences in Adobe Captivate.  I will be using cartoons as a means to respond to user input.

Thanks

Wow, what a community.  Thank you both for the quick responses.

I would like the png sequences to start and stop based on user input.

SO for example:  If a user was to choose the wrong answer a specific png sequence would play.  So I suppose the question I am asking is more accurately, what is the workflow for triggering custom animations that are composed of png sequences.

I am checking out both links provided and circle back to this post if I remain unclear.

Thanks again for the assist!

Why not an animated GIF?  You could hide it and make it visible using the Last Attempt event.

Of course you could set up a pretty simple While loop to start a change in states in a multistate object in Captivate, and start that loop with the Last Attempt event of a quiz slide. One of the problems is that embedded objects on a quiz slide are always on top.

That link to the video  is just about choice of image formats, not linked with your question. There is a new one with same topic, posted by Phil Cowcill in this portal. But that is not what you are looking for if I understand your question.

My link was about using the Library. Have tons of tutorials on my blog, and in this portal.

Thank you for the reply.  I honestly had not considered using animated GIF’s, but I will have to look at them as a potential solution.

I have started to check out your blog, and I see that it will be a very useful resource.

The link to the libraries post is very helpful.  I think I will experiment with  importing from Animate CC, just to get the workflow down.  I am still sorting through Captivate to determine how I best want to present my projects.  Knowing where everything is and what is possible is very helpful.  Looks like I have a bit of reading to do.

Thanks again!

Make sure to understand the real basics as well. That is often a problem with starting CP users having a lot of experience with other applications. The three main stumbling blocks I listed up in one of my blogs are: Timeline (have lot of blogs about it, main cause of many questions on forums), Quizzing (have a recent sequence of articles on this portal about the basics), and Themes which is THE way to go for consistent design.

Always welcome with questions, I am screening this portal daily.

Here is the ink:

Using the power of libraries is one of those underrated features of Captivate.

You can use Effects to animate images, but also create HTML animations (Animate CC) or animated GIF’s which can be imported. They will also appear in the Library of the project.

Can you please explain what you want to achieve with those PNG’s?

If it is just about getting all of them into a course, please use the Import to library functionality. You can use internal and external libraries in Captivate. I will post a link to a blog post in a separate comment (will have to wait for moderation because of the link).

Hi,

You could try and start here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2STL79UrX5I

It’s Paul Wilson’s tutorial which gives some hints about quality and size of pictures used in projects.
