Problems with release 11.5.5.553?

I’ve been having a number of issue with Captivate over the last month or so and I’m trying to figure out if it’s just me or if there is/are a known problem/problems that might save me from having to throw about 6-weeks worth of work in the trash.

I’m working on a scenario based course that takes the learner through an activity and asks policy questions at various points.  If the learner answers incorrectly, they are routed to a remediation slide where they are expected to use the reference document to find the right answer.   When they find the answer, they put the paragraph number into a text-entry-box and a shared action checks the answer and provides the appropriate feedback.

The current problem is that the while this functionality all worked 2-weeks ago, now that I’ve updated to 11.5.5.553 it doesn’t work anymore.  For example…the correct answer is 7.5.A, but if I put 6 into the TEB and run the action nothing happens.  Put in 7.5A and it gives feedback that the answer is wrong, but put 4 back in and again nothing.

In addition, I’m having problems when I try to copy/paste something and the whole program locks up.

Is anyone else having problems?

Jay, I am also on that version. The only difference with previous versions is that it seems to be slower in reaction. As you may know I use shared actions a lot and didn’t see any problems with existing actions.

Did you try to clean the Preferences already? Which debugging did you try out?

Lieve,

I did clean the preferences.  After messing with the file this morning it seems like the issue is limited to when I try to “Preview Next X Slides”.  If I try this preview, neither the shared action(s) or the advanced action(s) I built them from would work…but not all of them, just some.  But, if I preview “HTML5 in Browser” everything seems to work.

It’s been more than a little frustrating.

That was not mentioned in your question. If you are busy with a non-responsive project, the only Preview method which uses a temporary HTML5 output is F11, Preview HTML in browser. The other Previews all use a temporary SWF output.  But SWF is dead …. if you use the most recent browser versions. You need to limit to F11 for Preview. It is annoying (have warned by launching multiple feature requests). I always will turn on temporarily the TOC with full navigation functionality to allow to browser quickly to the wanted slide in that case.

Thanks for the info Lieve.

Given all the hassle we’ve had, you wouldn’t think I’d have forgotten about the Flash thing but I did.  I appreciate the help!

Understood and that is also not very clear.  I have logged this problem multiple times, because it should be possible to have all Preview methods to create a HTML5 output, since that is how it is done for the Fluid Boxes projects. Maybe I log too many bugs and requests
