Hello my next buttons work in preview but not in HTML view or published on LMS. I read this is a common problem and sometimes fixes itself overnight, by deleting and reinstalling buttons, and by configuring the Flash Player Security Settings. I have not reconfigured the settings yet because I don’t see directive on it. Can someone provide this please.

I know the buttons are entered correctly it’s system issue.

thanks CT

It is always useful to add the version number you are using (as mentioned in Help, About Captivate) and the OS.

Output to SWF is obsolete, You only should use F11, Preview HTML in Browser if you want a real preview for non-responsive projects. That is the only preview method using a temporary HMTL output in Browser, not the case for the other Preview methods which use a temporary SWF as output. That limitation doesn’t exist for responsive projects where all Preview methods are in Browser with HTML output. One exception: Play Slide is NEVER a preview method, is wrongly listed under the big button Preview.

Which type of button did you use? Do you have the button on the master slides or timed for the rest of the project or did you have an instance on each slide? Timed for the rest of the project, or on master slides is only possible with the three most recent button types. Have a look at this blog post:

I suppose they have the command ‘Go to Next Slide’? If you use an individual instance on each slide, did you edit the timeline of this Next button? If yes, do you have other interactive objects with a possible pausing point on the slide? Did you keep a pausing point for the Next button, whatever the way you applied the button?

I’ve not run into this problem myself you might want to consider replacing your buttons with shapes used as buttons. This may solve your problem. By the way, the only preview method you should use for non-responsive projects is HTML5. The other types of previews are for Flash output which isn’t used anymore. The next release of Adobe Captivate will have these options removed or replaced with their HTML5 equivalent.
