Looking for some tips on how to select an LMS. My company will possibly need to change LMS systems, but we don’t really know how to go about selecting a new one. Can someone help me with some tips and tricks that can guide us in the right direction. Thanks!
Hi Adam_Smith you could do what Elina says. I would like to share my 2 cents as this is something that i have done in one of my previous roles. Onboarding the right LMS for your organization is an exercise that can easily last 6 months. At a very high level, I would like highlight the following:
- Define your objectives and requirements
- Involve key stakeholders
- Assess user-friendliness
- Scalability and flexibility
- Mobile accessibility
- Content creation and management
- Reporting and analytics
- Support and training
- Integration capabilities
- Security and compliance
- Cost and pricing structure
- User feedback and reviews
- Trial and demo
- Vendor reputation
- Contract terms and exit strategy
- Future-proofing
There are some excellent articles on elearningindustry.com that can be leveraged as well.
Here is a great article on cloud-based LMS options. It’s pretty current:

So often, the requirements are decided by people using the back end of an LMS system (management, admins) but don’t forget to get some regular employees involved in the selection process. After all, they are the ones who will use it the most. Here are some resources to help.
