HELP! Captivate 2023 Software Simulation Problems

Hello! I’m experience some difficulties with the new Captivate and its software simulation function.

First, the recording only shows my desktop no matter what was recorded. I want to show a demo of a web tool in my browser, but it seems like Captivate still only captured my desktop image. I have select the correct window to record (like the web browser) and my laptop was not connecting to another monitor at that moment.

Second, I am not able to adjust the location of the blue rectangle frame. While I can change the size from the bottom right corner, the frame always sticks to the top left corner and cannot be moved around.

.

Does anyone have any idea about the issues? Thanks!

I think I’m going to have to switch to classic as well.  The new captivate looks great, but simulations are unusable right now. I thought maybe my PC had issues, but the new captivate doesn’t work correctly on a brand new machine with fresh OS install either.

Issues:

Captivate doesn’t reliably capture clicks
Automatic panning is completely broken
Bugs, crashes, OS restarts frequently required

At this moment I can support your decision, hoping that the problems will be solved in the near future.

At this moment, I can only recommend to use Software simulation in Captivate Classic (11.8.2), which you allowed to use on the same license along the new version. It has a lot more features for software sims. You can pause and insert Video Demo slides in the Classic version, you can add any static object to a sim slide, it is not forced to panning and zooming when using it on a smaller device. That last feature is very bad if you use a software sim for Training/Assessment because the learner almost is guided to the correct location for clicking.
