Pause/play button and a custom drag and drop (issues)

Hi Everybody, I’m working on a eLearning and ran into a few tiny hiccups that I think can be fixed easily. The problem is that I can’t seem to find a solution. Here are the problems i’m having. Pause/play toggle: I used a tutorial (and I don’t remember which one) to build a pause/play toggle button that pauses the timeline and plays again after pushing the button again. The problem with this button is, that for the first time to pause […]

Adobe Captivate 2017: Powerful!

I am very excited to be using Adobe Captivate 2017.  What an outstanding tool!  I tired the 30 day trial a few months ago and while I was impressed, I thought that I needed more time to really consider what I could do in the future with such a powerful tool.  After purchasing Adobe Captivate 2017, reviewing the short tutorials and taking an Adobe Captivate 2017 course on LYNDA.com, I feel like Adobe Captivate 2017 will provide me with all […]

Adding Closed Captions for your Videos in Adobe Captivate

Adding closed captions to your eLearning courses is a basic requirement to meet accessibility standards like Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0. You can easily do so for your audio-based courses by adding narration to your screen, adding slide notes, and then converting those slide notes to closed captions. But a little-known fact is that you can have closed captions for slide videos as well. Watch this short tutorial to learn how to associate close captions with your […]

Reflections on Captivate 2017

Intro About two weeks ago Captivate 10, now labeled Captivate 2017 was released. If you did visit my blog in the past, you know that I prefer to wait a while before posting my first impressions. My focus is also more on the non-hype features added in this release, I call them the ‘hidden’ gems. Some are mentioned in the documentation, some not. Update undocumented feature – August 2017 This week I discovered an undocumented enhancement thanks to a user […]

Script out your steps – Practise your steps so you know exactly what you’re going to record. Run Captivate as an administrator – I generally run […]

Secrets of Timeline(s) in Captivate – Intro

Intro Happy New Year 2017 to all Captivate users! Quite a while ago I wrote an article about Timeline secrets in Captivate 5: Tiny Timeline Tidbits Since the change in the UI with Captivate 8 , the newbie User Interface minimizes the Timeline panel by default which is really a pity (personal opinion). Some of the questions I read, at least partially due to that decision to hide the Timeline:  ‘I want to get rid of the timeline, don’t need it […]

LMS Review: Adobe Captivate Prime by John Leh

Somehow I made it through more than 3 years and 150 LMSs without seeing or reviewing the Adobe Captivate Prime LMS. Recently, several clients asked me about it by name, so I headed to the Adobe website for a first-hand look. I am already a limited member of the Adobe community — I rely on the Adobe Sign service to digitally sign PDFs and use Adobe Stock for my photos and graphics.  Since I was already logged-in as an Adobe user, I […]
