Using Fluid Boxes
(2)

Hi Folks

I am looking to create a new course using Fluid Boxes.  I’m reviewing the tutorial on how to use them, and it feels pretty straightforward in terms of what you have to do.  However, I am noticing a couple of things that are a bit frustrating:

1.  Color picker – it is not picking up the color I am selecting – not even close to it.
2.  Horizontal FB – I’ve added 2 and sized them accordingly – when I add text to the left side box, it automatically sizes it to the full box size and I can’t pick the text and move it anywhere.
3.  When I add an image to the right FB, it duplicates itself.

I’ve used Captivate on and off over the years, but Fluid Boxes are definitely new to me.

If anyone has any good tips and tricks to manage them I’d appreciate it.

Cheers

Ger

Some tutorials (wrongly?) seem to show that Fluid Boxes workflow is very easy but IMO that is not the case at all (have 10 years of experience with Captivate). I cannot answer your first question, because I don’t know from what you wanted to ‘pick’ a color, nor what the link is with Fluid Boxes.
I recommend to look for more tutorials, you seem to miss some essential items like the importance of wrap, Stretch to Fit option, vertical and horizontal spacing, width/height ratio etc. Look for the tutorials by Zeeshan Hussain about Fluid Boxes (no links allowed or you’ll have to wait for approval). I blogged several times about Fluid Boxes myself, started by exploring the setup of them in Master slides included in the default themes. I learned a lot from those master slides. Beware of videos that make seem complicated workflows as being easy. If you are new to Captivate, I strongly recommend first to learn its most important workflows in a non-responsive project.
