Big Sur (macOS 11) update for Adobe Captivate (2019 release) is here!
Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from. I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action. I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]
Imagine you are taking an eLearning course and bump into a knowledge check question. You read through the question stem and options and find it difficult to answer the question. Somehow you make a selection and get a feedback “Sorry, that’s incorrect! Try again.” You don’t feel good about it as you can’t figure out what went wrong. You attempt to answer the question again but this time around you don’t even bother to read the options and click on […]

It’s a trend now-a-days to develop content for multiple devices such as Desktops, Smart Phones, Tablets, etc. We also see people go overboard with their design and finally when they view the content in handhelds, it may not appear as expected. So what is that we generally miss? Of course there are tools to help us but I don’t think they can help us decide what is correct or incorrect…
When designing a course screen, we sometimes come across a situation where we have some content which is related to the screen, but there’s no space on the screen to place it. This content is important and is in context with the current screen but is not worthy enough to take up the entire next screen. In such scenarios, screen with a pop-up comes to rescue! Take a look at this screen… Let’s see

When we create courses for global audience, oftentimes we come across a need for localized version of the course. The common workflow is to create the course in one language and then duplicate the course and then change the language for text/graphics/audio. This is the easiest way to localize content, but is an inefficient workflow for course maintenance, where you need to make the same edits in each version of the course. To overcome this problem, Adobe Captivate provides you […]
When I work with large projects, one of the challenges I face is to debug the project when something is not working correctly. The things that can go wrong are incorrect navigation, incorrect association of actions, number of attempts in question slides, etc. In such cases, one thing that I wish for is a dialog that shows all the interactions in my project. And there comes the Advanced Interactions Panel… a real time saver!
I did a session at Media and Learning in Brussels last week. I’m embedding the slides below and including the link to the dowloadable deck with notes here. The session was amazing including contributions from Helen Keegan, University of Salford, UK, Claudio Dondi, SCIENTER, Italy, Gráinne Conole, Beyond Distance Research Alliance, University of Leicester, UK and Moderator: Tom Wambeke, ILO, Italy. The audience acted as co-panelist and helped us really focus in
I was reading this wonderful post from Dr. Pooja Jaisingh on how we could make the learning more engaging and interesting by allowing learners to make mistakes. With this thought, I was going through a customer request on how to capture and calculate the incorrect clicks in a course. These thoughts made me think, what would I do by using this data?
Consider this! You have completed a training course and now you need to take a test. You give it a shot and unfortunately you fail in the test and are denied of the course completion certificate. You end up feeling bad! You are playing a game. It has a lot of levels and it’s pretty difficult to cross each level. You are trying your best to cross them but keep failing. You don’t lose heart and keep trying until you […]
