What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Multiple Failure messages for Drag&Drop KC slide

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action.  I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

[Recording] Learn to create and use interactive videos in Captivate

Videos are the best and easiest way to learn about new content and skills. But they are inherently passive, with no opportunity for learners to interact with the content. You will see a demonstration of how to convert informational slides, interactions, and knowledge check questions to overlay slides and add them at designated spots in the video. You will also learn how to add bookmarks in the video to enable remediation during the training. Along the way, learn about best practices for using videos effectively in eLearning courses.

[Recording] Building scenario-based eLearning using Templates

Scenario-based learning is a proven effective method for learning using complex real-life situations. However, the effort and technology to develop scenarios have often appeared to be too complex, expensive, and time-consuming. Today though, authoring tools have advanced to make designing and developing robust scenarios to be easier and more efficient than ever before.

[Recording] Create an Accessible eLearning course by Anita Horsley

Creating accessible online courses provides an opportunity for people with disabilities to learn successfully. Additionally, developing compliant courses reach a larger more inclusive audience, and it can be a legal issue. In the US, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 requires that government and educational organizations make learning accessible (including eLearning). eLearning developers need to take into consideration creating eLearning that is accessible to people who are blind or visually impaired, deaf or hard of hearing, physically disabled, and developmentally disabled.

Index.html file starting virtual project

Hi, I’m creating a Captivate (ver. 2)project and I can run it in preview window. I try to run project just clicking index.html- file in project folder. Project is starting normally, but I can only see blank (black) window. In previous version it works and I can run project without starting Captivate. Any comments? Br, tapio

How can I make print out or a PDF of usertext from an inputfield?

I want to let my students write their reflections in several input fields and store the whole text in a PDF. It was possible in Captivate some years ago.

Training and Assessment Simulations are not capturing slides

All of a sudden, my training and assessment simulations are not capturing slides.  The only slide it captures is the last slide when I hit end on my keyboard.  Along with this, if I manually capture the slides, the click boxes, hints and failure messages (all set up in preferences) are not displaying.  Is anyone else running into this and is there a fix? Thanks!

Hotspots not showing as expected

Course was built using fluid boxes. Hotspots are unlocked from the fluid box, but behind them. When I create new questions, hotspot box is on top of the image.

What format it should be published in?

Hi, as Adobe has stopped support for FLASH and we have courses published in .swf and uploaded on Microsoft Sharepoint. A learner can login and take a course. Can you guide in what format I should publish the course in now as .swf is no more supported.

About educational game

I want to build a game about my learning topics. But I don’t want to do this with quizzes. I planned branching scenario method (like adventure games) and I want to use gamification tools (Choosing character, Process bar, points, badges vs.) for every stage of my game. What steps should I do?
