What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

Hi, Can someone recommend JavaScript, HTML and CSS books for beginners that would be a best fit for Adobe Captivate? I keep researching but do not find anything in particular. However, if anyone can recommend any books that were of great help to you and Captivate, let me know! Currently, I have a few in my Amazon cart but just not sure which would be good. Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Multiple Failure messages for Drag&Drop KC slide

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action.  I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

Advanced Action TEB issue with letters P and R when used as Literal If Statements

Using a Text Entry Box for an Advanced Action in a crossword puzzle. The appropriate letter for each box is set as a Literal If Statement for the TEB. When correct, the respective box turns green. When incorrect, it turns red. This works for all items except when the correct letter for the box is P or R.

Captivate responsive courses will not auto-play on browsers

Due to some recent browser updates, all modern web browsers have discontinued auto-playing media in web pages. Similarly, HTML5 and responsive courses created in Captivate will not auto-play. Autoplaying is not honored even after enabling the option Auto Play in Preferences > Project > Start and End. While SWF videos will continue to auto-play, HTML5 and other responsive courses will not auto-play. Even though auto-playing of media was not possible in devices, now the same behavior is extended to desktop browsers. We recommend […]

2-line quiz answer

Hello, Is there a way to make a multiple choice quiz answer that is 2 lines? When I make the text box bigger, the choice letter (A, B, C) moves to the middle of the two lines as opposed to staying in front of the first line. I have added a picture to illustrate. Thanks, Karen

TEB for name / next slide advanced action troubleshooting

I am creating a course that allows learners to type in their name which will appear on future slides. I am running into a problem with the Submit button advanced action script to advance the learner to the next slide. I have the variables v_name and v_null created (with no value in the value field). I created a conditional advanced action to trigger a “Try Again” warning (named Text Caption) if no name is entered, and advance to the next […]

Camtasia and Captivate

Hello All, I have been using Camtasia these past few years creating videos and I’ve recently been asked to create interactive videos. Although video editing is easy in Camtasia there are limitations on what you can do in regards to making it interactive so I started to look at Captivate. Ideally I’d like to import a video into Captivate and start adding buttons that would “Continue” once a user clicks on one of the click boxes I setup. Sounds easy […]
