What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

However, if anyone can recommend any books that were of great help to you and Captivate, let me know! Currently, I have a few in my Amazon cart but just not sure which would be good. Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Multiple Failure messages for Drag&Drop KC slide

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action.  I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

Cannot see the Captivate window (Mac)

I am not able to see the Captivate window on my MacBook Pro (Early 2013) when running Adobe Captivate 2017 (running MacOS 10.13.4 High Sierra).  I can see the opening screen to choose recent project or new project and the progress bar comes up on the upper left of the screen.  When Captivate fully opens, cannot see the window or project, but can see the menu bar.  Oddly enough, when I open Captivate 9, I do not have this problem. […]

Captivate 2017 – Using Actionscript vs Javascript

We are using an On Exit Action that runs an actionscript to run a javascript to close the project. Is there any necessary reason, or advantage, to run this action in this manner, or can we just set the Action to run the javascript? Thank you in advance.

Adobe Captivate – Slide Audio Three Ways

In this video tutorial, I show you how you can import your slide audio using one of three different methods.

Check if TEB is empty (Where is Null?)

Update to blog post ‘Where is Null’ which was ause case to test if the learner did fill in a field (Text Entry Box) or not, and offer them another chance if the field remained empty. Because the workflow to reactivate a TEB on a slide after having clicked Submit is broken for HTML output in CP2017 (and CP9) you’ll find a solution in this post. Two workarounds are proposed: using a dummy slide (first solution) and using micronavigation (second solution).

Instructional Design Strategies to Design eLearning in 2018

As we witness the transition of traditional eLearning to mobile learning and macrolearning– to microlearning-based training, Instructional Design strategies are also evolving to keep pace. In this blog, I outline some of the Instructional Design strategies we use at EI Design that are in sync with the current trends and help us create high-impact learning experiences. I have been an Instructional Designer for nearly two decades. While I keep pace with the current trends and watch out for the new and emerging […]

Adobe Learning Evangalists on Lynda as well!

Automatic Simulation Content Creation in Captivate

Hello Experts, We are seriously exploring to buy Captivate tool, and like simulations (See-it, Try-it and Test-it). The main objective of us is to expedite content creation. Would it be possible to create simulations programatically? I mean by coding. Right now we wait for days to get How-to docs from users, and then develop simulations. More idle time for content creators.          We want 1) users to be able to create the simulations (OR) 2) write a […]

Squares show up on slides viewing on Windows PC but not MAC

I have two small squares that show up on two slides while viewing a published project on a Windows PC, but they don’t show up while viewing on a Mac.  One of the squares is over an image and the other one is after a colon: prior to a bulleted list. They were developed in 2017 on a Mac and viewed in Chrome.  The squares do not show up on Firefox or Explorer on PC just Chrome. Below are the […]
