Big Sur (macOS 11) update for Adobe Captivate (2019 release) is here!
Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from. I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action. I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

This demo course and post explains how to use a free Firebase account to collect and display all user data live in real time. Play with the live example here (click the launch course button, upper right): http://elbrotherscustom.com/jk/blogs/cp_fb/ Watch a video of how I made it here: Read more and get the JavaScript here: http://elearningbrothers.com/capture-adobe-captivate-data-real-time/ I will be presenting a similar concept on how to use Google (and other) Analytics as free LMSs at Learning DevCamp June 6th.
In this live stream i would like to invite my usual audience but also any learning and design managers to join in and discuss how to make eLearning more effective for your organisation.
A lot of the interactions I make at work are based on not allowing users to continue until all of the interactions on a slide have been completed. An exmaple could be there are four buttons, which need to be clicked so they show all of the popups, and then the next button will appear. I’ve heard from videos online that there are mixed views on this approach and am interested to hear what are your thoughts. I know from […]
Hi all, When I create shapes in Captivate 8, I’ve always had the issue of blurry text, in the browser, when I write inside of the shapes. You can write in any shape by double clicking on the them once created. But finally I found a way to work around this. After you’ve created the shape you want, create a text caption and place it on top of the shape. By doing this you won’t have any of the blurred […]

Fabio Oliveira

I started learning seriously about gamification some time ago. When I decided to write this blog, I first thought about what I had to say on this concept. But then it came to my mind, that it would be more interesting to gather what many Instructional Designers would have to say, and to compile everything in a single article. So here we go: these are a few quotes from various eLearning professionals on this exciting learning strategy. Add yours in […]
Shortcuts are a great way to speed up your development and when you get to know the main ones you can use in your day-to-day work, it will make a huge difference in your workflow. I found this link, https://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/shortcut-keys.html, which has all of the shortcuts for Adobe Captivate and seems to work on different versions (tested on version 8 and 2017). I’m still going through all of them and if there’s anything that doesn’t work, I’ll let you know. […]
