What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

JavaScript Book Recommendation

Hi, Can someone recommend JavaScript, HTML and CSS books for beginners that would be a best fit for Adobe Captivate? I keep researching but do not find anything in particular. However, if anyone can recommend any books that were of great help to you and Captivate, let me know! Currently, I have a few in my Amazon cart but just not sure which would be good. Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action.  I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

Custom quiz scoring in Adobe Captivate

Custom quiz scoring in Adobe Captivate Adobe Captivate 9 has a selection of built-in quiz processes that are designed to cover the majority of scenarios. Multiple choice, true/false, blank fill, matching and a few other types are supported. Incorporating quizzes is always a bit of a struggle, not only in developing good quiz concepts, but in developing user feedback, structuring the user journey through the course, given the results, scoring strategies, and ensuring that any reporting functions to the LMS […]

Linking to specific areas in PDFs from Captivate 9

When developing a series of continuing education quizzes I needed to take learners to specific sections within guidelines to allow them to dig deeper into topical areas and as remediation. Some of the challenges with this project Were: 1) learners needed to view the official guidelines; 2)  guidelines are updated on a regular basis and posted online as PDFs; 3) the education committee wanted the learner to be taken directly to the narrative, chart, table or graphic associated with the […]

Feature Request

I Think This Applies to the Adobe eLearning Conference in Washington D.C. As Well

I just read this great article by Adam Moran on Why Humans Should Attend Conferences – Like Adobe Summit 2017 and I think it applies to the Adobe eLearning Conference as well. If you are trying to convince your manager why they should fly you to Washington in April and book you into a fancy hotel you might be able to pull some key points from this article: https://blogs.adobe.com/digitalmarketing/digital-marketing/humans-attend-conferences-like-adobe-summit-2017/ Now if you’re successful, make sure you register for the conference. Making Text Read in a Tab Order

Text captions don’t show up in your tab order – they’re not interactive and the screen readers don’t care how you want them read. On the JAWS and NVDA screen readers the reading order is a bit weird –  it reads from left to right and slightly up – meaning if you have two columns of text in one text caption like this: the reader will read “One Four Two Five Three Six” Two separate text captions with the same […]

Visual Marketing

Video Marketing has been traditionally thought to be conjoined with products, services or informing consumers about upcoming releases in connection to the first 2. Half a decade ago video took center stage in education and learning with the concept of flipped classrooms, distance learning and MOOC’s become relevant with numerous providers offering their expertise to “convert” to your legacy content to a fluid video format with distribution including via portals or LMS systems. Modern day consumers align their thoughts and […]
