Let us take a deep breath first! If we have overused our superlatives in describing any previous contests on this forum, we will like to take it back, and place it here, as what we have witness in these last few weeks on elearning.adobe.com/projects page was nothing short of a phenomenon. Big Sur (macOS 11) update for Adobe Captivate (2019 release) is here!
Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from. I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]
Hi, Can someone recommend JavaScript, HTML and CSS books for beginners that would be a best fit for Adobe Captivate? I keep researching but do not find anything in particular. However, if anyone can recommend any books that were of great help to you and Captivate, let me know! Currently, I have a few in my Amazon cart but just not sure which would be good. Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action. I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]
In this video, I’m going to explain the color coding of the breakpoints in Adobe Captivate.

There are essentially three possible outcomes when designing and publishing Adobe Captivate projects. There are Flash based standard projects, HTML5 based standard projects and responsive design based projects. Standard projects in Adobe Captivate have a persistent aspect ratio regardless of whether they are published in Flash or HTML5. Responsive design projects are always HTML5 and can scale across many aspect ratios, making them an ideal choice when you want your project to be viewed on many different types of devices. […]
After viewing a user’s post asking about creating Pie Charts in Adobe Captivate 8, I did some research and was able to find a technique for using HTML5 and or Flash (SWF) animated pie-charts when inserted as HTML5 Animations. This one I found at Web-Site-Scripts has three different components: A SWF File for the chart that you want to create. We want to create a 3D Pie Chart. An XML Data File. These components only accept data in a pre-defined XML […]
In this video, I show you how you can easily edit your Smart Shape’s gradient.
I’ve been using Adobe Captivate for over a decade now, and have always faced one big challenge. If I had to get an answer to a question, find the steps to troubleshoot an issue, learn a new Captivate skill, or learn about some time-saving tips and tricks, I had to literally explore the web to find the resources. Chances were that I would find them at one or more of these places: Adobe Captivate blog, blog pages hosted by the Captivate […]
In this video, I’m going to provide you with my initial thoughts around Adobe Presenter Video Express.
Are you trying to associate an on failure action in a drag and drop and it just doesn’t work? Well, it doesn’t. It’s not you. You are doing it right. Captivate doesn’t have a “solution” for it (I don’t know if it’s a problem because there may be some logic in it). Here’s the workaround. Any more questions please send them my way, I’ll be happy to answer them. Ken Harmel M.Ed.
In general, I’ve found the Adobe Captivate application, the development and support teams, as well as the Captivate user community to be extremely helpful at sharing tips, techniques and processes. The establishment of the new eLearning Community represents a commitment of resources well beyond my expectations for a typical desktop application. I commend Adobe, their development and support teams, and the committed group of users you will find here for their efforts. Much, if not most, of […]
Audio Recording Process Outline: Pre-Planning Setup Recording Work Session Post Capture The Audio Recording Process Pre-Planning After the voice talent is ready for recording, a recording session is scheduled, preferably in a quiet room, when the surrounding area is quiet, with minimal traffic. Definitely not in an open area or at a cube / shared workspace, as your quiet recording space can suddenly turn into a group work session. Our recording process requires a laptop with power, microphone, USB […]
