What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

However, if anyone can recommend any books that were of great help to you and Captivate, let me know! Currently, I have a few in my Amazon cart but just not sure which would be good. Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Pause video – jump to… – then return and play from pause. And links to external content.

Hi All, I run a video production company and am evaluating Captivate as a way to enable us to create content based around interactive videos.  Therefore I am very new to it’s functionality but am very adept with the adobe creative suite and timelines etc. I get the linking to and from other content and know how to jump to markers in videos. My question is whether it’s possible to have a link overlay on a video which, when clicked, […]

Managing Network Latency in Global Adobe Connect Virtual Classes

When running a session in an Adobe Connect Virtual classroom, students could potentially join from anywhere in the world. If you notice that a student who is usually talkative and participates well when joining from her home office in Atlanta, GA seems reticent when traveling on business and joining your class from a hotel in Mumbai, your high-network-latency-warning-cerebral-synapse-lights should start flashing.

Love Adobe Captivate- especially how easy it is to learn

This is my first experience with a more sophisticated authoring tool, beyond PowerPoint or simple video platforms.  I have to admit, I was a bit nervous about learning a whole new system, but Adobe Activate made it super easy.  Especially that it has that familiar basic logic of PowerPoint but with a much more robust and powerful functionality. The availability of advice, tutorial, tricks and tips is super helpful for someone who is just beginning to learn the platform.  And […]

12 Principles of Multimedia Learning Relevant to Video – from Richard E. Mayer’s work

If you’re developing video courses, here is a quick summary of 12 principles developed by Richard E. Mayer, which you may want to familiarize yourself with for the best learning outcome: 1. Multimedia – People learn better from words and pictures than from words alone 2. Coherence – People learn better when extraneous information is excluded 3. Signaling – People learn better when cues are added that highlight the key information and its organization 4. Spatial and temporal contiguity – […]

Json Files

Help!  I just finished my 7th e-learning program and I uploaded it to sharepoint, as I have for the other 6 and have run into a snag once again.  SharePoint will not accept *.json files.  I learned the hard way with my second e-learning course I created which was a responsive type.  Because of all the json files, I had to reconstruct the entire training to be in non-responsive type file format and no .json files were created and it […]
