What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

JavaScript Book Recommendation

Hi, Can someone recommend JavaScript, HTML and CSS books for beginners that would be a best fit for Adobe Captivate? I keep researching but do not find anything in particular. However, if anyone can recommend any books that were of great help to you and Captivate, let me know! Currently, I have a few in my Amazon cart but just not sure which would be good. Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Multiple Failure messages for Drag&Drop KC slide

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action.  I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

Button Sets

Does Captivate have a “Button Set” feature? Here is what I mean by a “button set” feature: I’m creating a tabbed interaction with 6 tabs. When the user clicks Tab 1, the tab’s state will change to “active” (different shade of blue than the normal state).  When the user clicks Tab 2, tab 2’s state will change to “active” and change tab 1’s state to “Visited”, and so forth. However, the user can choose which tab they want to start […]

How Can I Share My Captivate Project Without an LMS?

Hello, I’ve been stuck, unable to share my Captivate projects with stakeholders who do not have access to our schools learning management system. Aside from Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, or my own public domain, is there any easy way to share Captivate projects with others?

Date Variable not displaying full year in Captivate

Hello, I am using Adobe Captivate 2019 Release. I have made several CBTs all using the Date Variable $$cpInfoCurrentLocaleDateString$$ but on my current CBT, the date is not printing out in full. It is only displaying September 6, 20 – so it is not showing 2019. Any thoughts on why this is happening. I have looked at all my system settings and past versions of CBTs and can’t find any difference between the new one and the old ones. Thank […]

How to allow free navigation after course completion?

Hi! I’m creating an eLearning course with Captivate 2019 where the navigation is forced for the learner. When the learner has visited all slides (100 %) the course is completed. A button with go to next slide -action appears at the end of each slide to prevent slide skipping. After the course is completed, the learner should be able to navigate freely to all slides (also after logging out of the LMS and logging in again). What are the available options for achieving this? I tried […]

Captivate 2017 Filmstrip has blank thumbnails

I am relatively new to Captivate, (at least I still feel new after 5 years, because I still cant seem to get a handle on how adobe or captivate templates works) and after downloading several templates and/or projects, I am finding many of them have blank thumbnails in the film strip. It makes it extremely difficult to work with and I am wondering if I am just missing a setting or does everyone get this problem with downloading templates? This […]

Adobe Captivate to mp4 Video

I’ve created some software simulation and video demo vidoes in Adobe Captivate 2019. I’ve published them as mp4 videos, but the videos are blurry and the wording that’s on the screen is hard to read. I’m trying to find out if I need to change the resolution before publishing as a video (and how) or any other suggestions so that when I publish these videos, they are not blurry. We are using these videos as training for how to use […]

How to Avoid redundant label editing?

Hi! Our company projects will consist of  the  software simulations of “Show Me”, “Try It” and “Test Me” modes. In other words,  Demo, Assessment and Training.  When I’ve created tests, the labels that are created don’t appear to be linked.  So, if I change a label’s, background, font, and text, I have to change all of the versions one at a time.  Is there a way to link these, so I don’t have to do this?  Thanks!

I need to leave background audio playing but turn slide audio on and off.

Create a Secret Help Slide …Even Better Than Before!

Last week I did a tutorial that was an easy way to have your course jump to a unique slide that was hidden from the regular navigation. This would be a great way to provide your learners with some optional information like course instructions or a help page. The problem with that solution is that every time you returned your learners to the slide that you started from, the slide would start from the beginning of the slide.
