What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

However, if anyone can recommend any books that were of great help to you and Captivate, let me know! Currently, I have a few in my Amazon cart but just not sure which would be good. Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Multiple Failure messages for Drag&Drop KC slide

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action.  I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

Advanced actions: “Decision”

Hi there, I am reaching out to the community because I would like to address a gap in my captivate knowledge namely ‘Decisions’ within advanced actions. I have done a fair bit of googling and youtubing on the topic. I have also searched the PDF manual and can find little more than a single paragraph about ‘decisions’ in the whole document. However, I can’t find any kind of overview on what exactly they are and how they work. I am […]

Question pool (test)

For one of my clients i’m creating a question pool. The problem is that the question pool contains 30 questions and you will have 10 questions picking a question from that pool. This is simple to make. However the client wants to be able to test all the questions before turning it into a pool. Because when I already create a pool, He will not be able to review all the questions before we go live. How can I make […]

“Q & A” Section in “My post”

What is “Q & A” Section in “My post” of our profile page of this eLearning community portal? The confusing part is, we do not have the option to select it while creating a new post! So even if we assume that we can add FAQ type information(both Questions and its Answers) in “Q & A” section, how to add it?

Mobile App from Captivate project.

As I have already explained in my blog, we can now have our eLearning module in the form of an app, that could be installed in mobile devices.

The advantage of having or making our eLearning module into an App is that, the app being installed natively in a Client’s mobile, will ensure that the content is always available even though there is no internet connection, and it will also make certain that user experience won’t be affected by slow or unstable network.

I am not getting a working file when publishing to my Mac…

I have created a non responsive project, i have published to my computer using HTML5, tried it as a zipped file and non zipped. When i go to the published files there is no file that allows me to actually view the published project. I have checked everything i can think of and nothing seems to change the fact, i can preview in captivate 9 but when publishing, i just get a file without the usable content. Any ideas anyone?

A Hidden Gem in Captivate.

We all know about the great features of Captivate like Responsive Design, Virtual reality, Interactive videos, Gamification, etc. But there is one hidden gem of a feature in Captivate which is very rarely discussed and that feature is Creating a Mobile App of ‘eLearning Module’ in Captivate itself.

Pausing Issue

Hi there, I’m running into an issue with a slide auto-advancing now that I have added click boxes to the slide. The slide is set up with a next button to advance the slide. The Next button becomes visible about 5 seconds into the slide, and has a pause point about 1.5 seconds  before the end of the slide. The click boxes are each set up to both Pause until clicked and continue playing the project when clicked (required to […]
