What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

JavaScript Book Recommendation

Hi, Can someone recommend JavaScript, HTML and CSS books for beginners that would be a best fit for Adobe Captivate? I keep researching but do not find anything in particular. However, if anyone can recommend any books that were of great help to you and Captivate, let me know! Currently, I have a few in my Amazon cart but just not sure which would be good. Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Multiple Failure messages for Drag&Drop KC slide

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action.  I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

Quizzes, bookmarks and continuation

Using Captivate 2017, I created a computer-based training program (cbt) that has 7 chapters, each chapter ends with 3 to 5 graded quiz questions that are totaled to derive a comprehensive score for all 7 chapters. Whenever a user completes a chapter, leaves in the middle of the next course and returns to complete the cbt, Captivate does not retain their previous quiz score. Captivate does return user to  the chapter that he/she left. How do I get Captivate to […]

Captivate 2019 Release Update 1 – Already?

I’m impressed! With Adobe Captivate 2017 we had to wait for over a year before we saw an update to 2017 release. Here we are slightly more than a month has transpired and we now have some bug fixes and security updates to Captivate 2019. I hope that is a sign of things to come. Not that there are many things wrong with Captivate, but instead they work quickly to resolve any issues that come up.

So here is the skinny. When running virtual reality content on iOS devices the display was not as you expected and was cut off when an LMS launched the course in an iFrame. The other issue relates to HTML5 published projects where an upgraded PowerPoint project appears blank when the source PowerPoint file is in linked mode.

Anyway, regardless of your situation, make sure you are always running the latest version. Run the update procedures I demonstrate in the video or let your IT department know there is an update so they can push it out to your computer.

360 image scaling

The challenge: I want my user to just walk left and right through a 360 image. So I need the full height of the image put into the workarea to add hotspots. I see the full image correct located in the preview pane left. I recorded several videos and took Pan pictures with my IPhone but none of these showed up the way I wanted. Even not going closer or wider with my Iphone. Question: Can I scale these pictures […]

A Responsive Theme with Fluid Boxes and Selected Vector Graphics

Launch a Published Version of the Getaway Theme (.cptx): Download Your Getaway Theme (.cptm) Captivate 2019 offers two work streams that allow you to create responsive projects: Break Points and Fluid Boxes. Initially I gravitated toward Break Points, because they offered more flexibility in how you could use graphics. However, in the back of my mind I knew I had to come grips with Fluid Boxes because they are likely the wave of the future. Fluid Boxes remind me of […]

Captivate 9 Accessibility issues

I am having several issues with keyboard accessibility on a project I am working on. Unable to tab to the TOC button except on a Knowledge check slide.  For some reason it works here but everywhere else it tabs right past itUnable to tab to Hyperlinks in text boxes. These appear in the tab order but when tabbing through the slide are never reached. Tab order of Knowledge check slides is random.  The only item that shows up in the […]
