What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

Multiple Failure messages for Drag&Drop KC slide

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action.  I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

Software Simulation

This interaction is one element from a complex software simulation, developed in Captivate. The software is used for planning flight patterns for drones. In this example, learners can select one specific waypoint and then zoom in/out on a map. The map element was created with custom states. The +/- buttons execute conditional actions that change the state of the image object,  change the state of the zoom indicator and enable/disable the zoom buttons. Note: In this example, only one waypoint […]

published Captivate file will not play

I am at the end stage of a 3 module Captivate project. I am using Captivate 9. I successfully published and sent to my university intranet. However, when we try to play the file, the “hour glass” does not change to open the project. I then opened the project in Captivate 2017 and republished. The same effect is there. What am I doing wrong?

Change Responsive Projects to a Fluid Box project

I know that you cannot change a responsive project into a fluid box project. But, I was wondering what is the best way to get the content moved to a Fluid box project. Can you click a button to change the responsive project to a regualr project and then automatically change the new regular project to fluid boxes. This would be nice since we have access to responsive projects through ELB, but not Fluid boxes. Thanks, Delphine

Exasperated Customer

It has been a long time since I have had a buying experience as miserable as this. All I wanted to do was buy a piece of software. The first 20 minutes was spent getting ran around from one tangential article to the next. Once I finally found the “Buy” button, my troubles really began. Once I started the download, it kept bugging me to re-enter my password every few minutes. Once I was done downloading, I found out that […]
