What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

JavaScript Book Recommendation

However, if anyone can recommend any books that were of great help to you and Captivate, let me know! Currently, I have a few in my Amazon cart but just not sure which would be good. Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Multiple Failure messages for Drag&Drop KC slide

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action.  I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

Micro-Navigation with Shared Action (Step-By-Step)

Last post about using Micro-navigation to skip first seconds in a slide. Post describes how to create a shared action from an advanced action, how to decide which variables and literals should be defined as parameters.

Changing States vs Animation – (A Reason to Learn JavaScript)

Learning to use JavaScript can allow you to make projects that offer something with just a little more polish than the next developer. Here is a simple example of a subtle difference between using JavaScript vs native Captivate functionality.

Be Wary of Authoring Tool Comparisons

I often see articles, blog posts, or webinars entitled something like Storyline versus Captivate or How the Top 5 Authoring Tools Stack Up, or some other comparable title. I generally avoid this conversation because to me there are so many variables that there is never one defining thing that makes software A better than Software B. Also much of this debate is subjective since what I think is important may not be what you think is essential.

Adobe Captivate – Content Carousel Two Ways

In this video tutorial, I show you how to create your own content carousel. The first method is through using simple actions on your properties panel. The second method is a little more sophisticated and requires the use of a tracking variable and two advanced actions.

You Using Captivate 2017 – I imported a PowerPoint with Animations, and now have added audio voice-over, but when I publish the project as HTML5 – for some reason I’m losing the PowerPoint animations. How can I fix this? Why would audio have effected this?

Associate an image with the space booked for the correct or incorrect answer

First of all, I specify that I am French. I thus apologize to you for my bad expression writes. Here is my problem: I wish to associate one or several images with the space reserved for the correct answer (or bad answer). How do I have to proceed? Thank you for your help.

Captivate Upgrades

Noticed a lack of unity between Captivate and the Creative Cloud Suite and I think it’s time captivate got the CC Suite overhaul.

How do I disable click sounds in smart shape?

I’m in Adobe Captivate 2017 and have a smart shape and I’m unable to disable the clicking sound when it appears. I don’t see the action tab under preferences. Any ideas?

Converting imported images into buttons within fluid boxes in responsive project

I’m creating my first responsive project and am trying to rebuild a project from a client originally created in PowerPoint. There are navigation buttons that I need to import as images. In the past, I would just add an invisible button overlay to create the functionality. Now, with fluid boxes, I’m not sure how to turn the images into navigation buttons. I’m attaching a screen capture of the title screen to show the 3 fluid box layout with which I’m […]

How do I change my profile name and image?

Due to recent changes in Adobe’s data protection policies, we had switched the privacy settings to Private. You can, however, switch it back to the previous state. Setting the name to Public makes your profile name more meaningful, and is easier to share the profile link with your name with prospective clients and employers. Changing your profile image is easy. Follow the steps below: Switch to Public profile To the right of the page, click User Profile. On the menu that […]
