What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Multiple Failure messages for Drag&Drop KC slide

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action.  I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

Has anyone seen this before or have any idea how to resolve it? Let me know if there’s any more info I can provide about my project that would help you troubleshoot.           Thanks so much! Elearning trends to follow in 2019

It is always important to stay updated in business, especially in today’s fast-changing world. Elearning industry is among technology early-adopters, and in this article, we have gathered top trends that will affect the elearning business in 2019.

Recommended Reading Summary: A Chapter of “Emerging Technologies for the Classroom”

In October, I posted some recommended reading that complemented one of my classes on gamification.  I’ve since started writing chapter summaries (here is the last article) so people can “preview” some of the great books out there and hopefully end up reading them! Below is this month’s chapter summary.  Google Scholar features most of the chapter for free.  For the full text, here’s a Springer Link, which is free with subscription, or you can purchase the chapter or book. Chapter 9: […]

Material Design Icons in Your Captivate eLearning

I’m a big fan of pictures rather than words. Because of this, I’m always looking for ways to use iconography instead of words to convey meaning in my eLearning projects. In this Adobe Captivate tutorial, I show you how you can use the Material Design icons for your Adobe Captivate 2019 eLearning projects for your navigation controls and other buttons.

Mac Users

By using “Device Capture,” Mac users can easily insert iPad and iPhone videos into their Captivate projects. This is a great way to show how responsive courses will look on mobile devices. This quick vlog will show you how….

Making a search doc that recognizes text, and then plays the corresponding audio file

Trying to create a pronunciation guide. Learners can use a text entry box + submit, which then takes them to the correct audio recording of how to accurately pronounce what they put in the text entry box. The list of what could be typed in is about 10 items.

Can’t open files edited by a colleague

Hello, everyone. I created a bunch of projects in Captivate 2017.  We now have to update them for a new software release.  A colleague of mine has been helping me with edits.  She has Captivate 2019, I have Captivate 2017.  When I send her my files, she is able to open them just fine.  But when she sends them back to me after editing them, I can never open hers.  We use the same methods and tried several. The message […]
